"Cardinal Dolan Denies Catholics Entry at Cathedral Because of Dirty Hands"

See that headline? It is the disingenuous creation of self-important anti-Catholic protestors.

Joseph Amodeo writes at the Huffington Post about the "raw emotions" about being "denied a seat at Christ's table" and how as a result he feels "disowned, abandoned, and lost. "

Oh the melodrama of it all.

See, Joey and nine of his pals protested at St. Patrick's Cathedral in favor of gay rights. Their protest signs were their dirty hands. This junior high tactic was in response to Cardinal Dolan's column last week in which he said that LGBT people were welcome in the church so long as they washed their hands. In otherwords, everybody who wants to be there for the right and respectful reasons is welcome.

Joey and his pals marched to the Cathedral where they were told they could not enter unless they washed their hands. Remember, their dirty hands were their protest signs. So they were denied entry to mass with their protest signs. If they dropped the signs (washed their hands) they would be welcome. If you bring your protest inside, you will get arrested.

Joey then goes into hyperbolic melodrama overdrive.

In response to the Archdiocese's threat of arrest, we opted to remain outside where we stood in silent vigil with our palms turned out facing toward the main doors of Cathedral. As the start of the Mass drew near, the temporary steel doors that mark the front of the Cathedral while the original doors are refurbished, seemed to be symbolically appropriate. The cold steel and the means by which the doors closed as we stood outside seem now to capture well the chill that we felt from the Cathedral's staff as well as the Cardinal. Our peaceful presence was responded to with a resounding "you are not welcome."

These people are idiots but then again, Dolan lets someone like Biden who has blood on his hands come in and receive communion so you can see why nitwits think they should be allowed to show disrespect and disobedience every bit as much.

most people are embarrassed and ashamed of their sins, habitual sins. don’t try to demand others tell them they are wonderful because of their sin. they don’t try to define themselves by their sinm. don’t spend their lives’demanding others pat them on the back for being such a good sinner. don’t demand laws protecting them because of their sins.

put any other sin besides homosexuality in in place of that word, and see how ridiculous we are treating gays today.

It is interesting they themselves recognize they are unclean.

The most astute observation and comment on this thread! As freeper SAM comments,

most people are embarrassed and ashamed of their sins, habitual sins. don’t try to demand others tell them they are wonderful because of their sin. they don’t try to define themselves by their sinm. don’t spend their lives’demanding others pat them on the back for being such a good sinner. don’t demand laws protecting them because of their sins.

Shame has turned to pride, albeit through the legal system. Yet, subconsciously, as you well noted, they recognize their uncleanliness. No doubt the same is true for those who participate in abortions.

But if Joe Biden shows up for communion, on problem. He and Dolan can yuck it up together afterwards too.

Homosexuality today is the clear case for why the legal system must be rooted (as it has been) in Judeo-Christian underpinnings. Otherwise if/as society decays, it’s natural inclination, perversion and insanity are legalized, and remedies and corrections to said insanity and perversion, are outlawed and made punishable.

See the liberals will say “don’t push your morality on me!” while having no problems pushing their low-bar secular morality that punishes you for objecting, onto you.

Ultimately all law is based in morality. It’s a question of whose morality do you want it to be? A morality based on God’s Word, or a morality based on whatever is most popular with whoever’s currently in power at the moment, and whatever the current emergency and crisis is.

Thank you, again, for the astute commentary. Once again, it draws me back to then Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger's PRO ELIGENDO ROMANO PONTIFICE homily, delivered on April 18, 2005.

How many winds of doctrine have we known in recent decades, how many ideological currents, how many ways of thinking. The small boat of the thought of many Christians has often been tossed about by these waves - flung from one extreme to another: from Marxism to liberalism, even to libertinism; from collectivism to radical individualism; from atheism to a vague religious mysticism; from agnosticism to syncretism and so forth. Every day new sects spring up, and what St Paul says about human deception and the trickery that strives to entice people into error (cf. Eph 4: 14) comes true.

It was approximately 3 in the morning here on the East Coast and I woke up, turned on the tv just at the point when he said the above. It has remained with me ever since.

14Then he called to the crowd again and told them, “Listen to me, all of you, and understand! 15Nothing that goes into a person from the outside can make him unclean. It’s what comes out of a person that makes a person unclean. 16If anyone has ears to hear, let him listen!”

17When he had left the crowd and gone home, his disciples began asking him about the parable. 18He asked them, “Are you so ignorant? Don’t you know that nothing that goes into a person from the outside can make him unclean? 19Because it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then into the sewer, thereby expelling all foods.” 20Then he continued, “It’s what comes out of a person that makes a person unclean, 21because it’s from within, from the human heart, that evil thoughts come, as well as sexual immorality, stealing, murder, 22adultery, greed, wickedness, cheating, shameless lust, envy, slander, arrogance, and foolishness. 23All these things come from inside and make a person unclean.”

(Mark 7:14-23)
