The pope and the devil: Francis' obsession with Satan leads to ... (barf)

Is Pope Francis an exorcist?

The question has been swirling ever since Francis laid his hands Sunday on the head of a young man after celebrating Mass in St. Peter's Square. The young man heaved deeply a half-dozen times, convulsed and shook, and then slumped in his wheelchair as Francis prayed over him.

(snip)

Fueling the speculation is Francis' obsession with the devil, a frequent subject of his homilies.

I can’t believe I got admonished for assuming that FReepers would be able to pass high school French.

What, did you go to a one room high school??? They only taught French??? My school offered a number of languages and French was at the bottom of the list...

...which of course will include quite a few Catholics...

There's no such thing as Catholics...Only Christian and heathen...And I do suspect there are some Christians who attend the Catholic religion even tho I have yet to meet one who has a testimony of trusting Jesus for his/her salvation...

And THAT is exactly why God did not put you in charge of judgment.....

May peace and the Holy Spirit come upon you.

The hubris is breathtaking.

Can you imagine judging who is saved? I’d hate to come into His Presence telling Him I’ve usurped His right.

Pantocrator, I’m not.

The greatest trick the Moderators ever pulled was convincing the us that they don’t exist.

If you have the stomach for it, read some of the tweets to the Pope on Twitter. Then you might appreciate his “fixation” with Old Nick.

Well God did tell me to 'prove all things' and 'test the spirits'...

I can't imagine NOT judging who is saved...I can't save or unsave anyone but we are to separate ourselves from those who are not saved...

Why don't you pick up a bible sometime...

“Why don’t you pick up a bible sometime...”

Another one? Have three well-thumbed ones already.

“I can’t imagine NOT judging who is saved.”

I’ll let The Lord do that. I don’t think I have the ability to look into another’s soul.

“...I can’t save or unsave anyone...”

But you can judge who is saved.

We test the spirits in prophecy. We don’t presume to judge another’s salvation.

That starving thief may have a better chance at it than a well-fed, very comfortable holy roller claiming the salvation.

That hooker on the street corner beaten and raped at 13 then thrown out of the house is probably more beloved than I am.

That nasty, gossipy old woman, dying and elderly left by everyone and everything in her life may have a better chance than I since she went through hell here and came out in one piece.

I wouldn’t judge. Have never judged. I don’t know their souls. I don’t know how many times they have cried out to God, “Help ME!!!” in the night. I don’t know how many times they have lived with resignation that somehow in some faith that they hold they will live and someday, God will provide.

I Do Not Know.

The only thing I can do is love them. If I judge them, I am no better than the Pharisees.

"The only thing I can do is love them."

Amen to that. Love is the unconditional want of good for another only for the good of the other. If gratitude, reward, or even salvation are your motivations then you do not love anything other than self. Ask anyone in these threads if they would be willing to give up their place in heaven to a loved one purely out of love for them and God. Ask about the stranger, the Muslim, the criminal, and someone who had wronged them. Those who unhesitatingly say yes are getting close to understanding. I pray that I would have the grace to say yes.

Peace be with you.

Hey, excuse my initial skepticism. 2,040,000+ results in 0.42 seconds tells me that Dreaded Red-X is not some obscure movie I didn't see.

Course, it was a natural guess. I've only seen 3 or 4 full-screen movies in the past --- how old is Ben? --- 24 years, pret-near.

Dear Friend, what you wrote is perfect understanding of how we should view people through the lens of our merciful forgiving Lord.

Thank you for writing this and God Bless you!
