(Voris:) Off The Rails

Could the American Patriotic Church be any more off the rails than it is and we aren’t talking JUST theologically.

When news broke this weekend that the Archdiocese of New York is actually paying for some employees birth control, abortions and sterilizations through a union-negotiated health insurance contract signed years ago .. it was beyond shameful and stupid looking.

Here is who some call “the Pope of the American Church” Cardinal Timothy Dolan leading the charge against Obama and his Obamacare program demanding that it not force the Church to pay for such evils .. and in the meantime .. IT ALREADY IS!

Perception matters .. and for the hierarchy and the establishment ninnies who have known about this to have not either tried to correct it .. or fess up to it right away and try to change it just shows how far off the rails .. asleep at the switch .. off the reservation .. whatever metaphor you like .. the leaders are.

There is of course the moral question .. but since so many of the leaders disobey Canon law on a regular basis by giving pro-abortion politicians Holy Communion .. it shouldn’t be surprising that the immorality of this wouldn’t register.

But if looked at merely from a human-earthly perspective .. which is of course what the American Patriotic Church does S-O-O-O well .. what an incredibly bone-headed stupid situation to have gotten into.

Imagine Cardinal Dolan standing in front of a judge pressing his case about how the Obamacare mandate that the Church pay for contraception and abortion is an infringement on religious liberty and unconstitutional .. and the judge turning around and saying .. “well Your Eminence, if it so awful – why are YOU doing it?”

But Cardinal Dolan and his crack staff at the Archdiocese of New York aren’t alone in this. The whole Obamacare vs. religious liberty debate has served to unearth all kinds of stupid or hypocritical positions of those in charge .. revealing among other things that they don’t do a very good job at all of running the ship – at that is being kind.

There is a letter quietly being circulated here in the archdiocese of Detroit .. asking Archbishop Allen Vigneron to do something about the Catholic hospitals under his guidance to stop prescribing contraception and abortafacient drugs.

An intrepid group of lay people first informed the archbishop about this hypocritical situation more than a year ago and of course .. absolutely nothing was done to stop it and to this very day .. a patient can walk into almost every Catholic hospital in the Detroit Archdiocese and walk about with their birth control.

And Detroit .. along with New York aren’t the only places. This is rampant throughout the Church in America – the American Patriotic Church. Leaders decry federal legislation that they say they are so worried about forcing them to administer contraception .. yet they hand it out as part of the business as usual routine. They decry the advancing of homosexual marriage .. yet homosexual men who work non- stop to defy the Church’s teaching populate the priesthood up and down every step of the ladder of power.

They go on and on about the need for greater catechesis and a New Evangelization – the new buzzword in chanceries – yet they leave in place liberal dissenters in their own classrooms and parishes who teach the opposite of what the Church teaches.

Just what is going on? Is all this talk just a bunch of smoke and mirrors to look good in Rome and possibly get some kind of cushy job on the banks of the Tiber?

Is the talk well-intentioned but administered by horrible administrators who shouldn’t have the job responsibilities they have because they have proved unequal to the task?

What is it? What is going on? This whole situation is off the rails. Inept leadership .. laughing-stock bone-headed moves, no seeming plan to fix any of it, a push ahead business as usual status quo that reveals the massive degree of incompetence.

Just exactly what DO church leaders and their staffs get up and do every morning? The faith is in shambles, the liturgy is virtually unrecognizable, parishes are being bordered up and sold off, souls are being lost by the millions, hypocritical or at best ridiculous policy decisions are made and continue to be pursued and that isn’t even the beginning of woes.

How much more does the American Patriotic Church have to steer off the rails before Rome steps in and does a MAJOR course correction?

Pray for the bishops .. pray that they see the light and the massive destruction that is being done on their watch and that they get the grace to take out the broom and do a massive house-cleaning from top to bottom.
