The real question is where does Scripture teach baptized impenitent practitioners of willful sin are saved and part of the body of Christ, versus those manifesting “things which accompany salvation?”
Have a God night.
Infallibility pertains to the Pope teaching us on matters of faith and morals. It does not mean that any individual Pope or Cardinal, etc is free from sinning. They are all just as capable of sinning as the rest of us.
The Church teaching on homosexuality is infallible. Men who act on their homosexual inclinations are not.
It sure has and it doesn't exist.
Jesus excepted, no human being is infallible and it is guaranteed to no one.
The thing is your question was how the Magesterium could go against God by not following his teachings....and I answered it. Men sin. All men, including the Pope. It has nothing to do with infallibility as the latter deals with proclaiming teachings of the Church.
You, on the other hand, have decided to ignore the fact that I answered your question and have continued your argument against the doctrine of infallibility. Which is really all you wanted to do in the first place.
So I’m not taking the bait.
No man or group of men is infallible and especially because they say so about themselves.
If they were infallible because of being led by the Holy Spirit, there’d never be any dissension. Instead, as we’ve been told, all that’s needed in the magisterium is a majority vote.
Majority vote?
Really?
That must mean the Holy Spirit is divided in His opinion.
If they were really led by the Holy Spirit, it would be unanimous and agree with Scripture.
Always......
I really considered the unnatural setting that I mentioned to be the physical setting with a bunch of males/females who were forbidden/under vows to be celibate.
I fully agree that all male settings are not unhealthy - males and females alike need time with 'their own" and I found men's retreats and Promise Keepers to be very vital and healthy environments.
I also agree that being married doesn't preclude sexual abuse, but it might decrease it - I was thinking of those who wanted to be married vs. those who use it as a cover. I guess there's no sure-fire way to weed the bad guys out.
I was unaware of how many married priests are admitted and thought the vow of celibacy was part of the deal vs. a condition that the men would set upon themselves (I'm assuming they would make the vow even if not going to the priesthood - I do find this to be a little unnatural for men to do. It would make me wonder about the motives - is good Mikey trying to suppress bad Mikey?).
Thanks for the conversation and the education by addition of new info to me - one of the reasons I love this type conversation is that everyone learns something, even if only about other humans or themselves.
Did the crust lattices on the cherry pie have sugar sprinkles on them? Yum!
Sometimes it seems so complicated! But sometimes we manage to get back to basic. Like Brothers And Sisters In Christ.
God bless you, brother.
