Reformed Church in America (RCA) removes conscience clauses
The Aquila Report ^ | 6-21-13

Posted on 06/21/2013 3:34:37 PM PDT by ReformationFan

On Thursday afternoon, General Synod officially ratified the removal of the “conscience clauses” from the Book of Church Order (BCO). Last year’s General Synod voted to remove from the BCO the “conscience clauses”–statements that spell out how RCA members can and cannot conscientiously object to the ordination process of women.

In the time since General Synod 2012, the required two-thirds of RCA classes voted in support of synod’s action, with 31 classes voting in favor of removing the clauses and 14 voting to keep the clauses.

Originally adopted in 1980, the “conscience clauses” were intended to maintain unity and peace despite a diversity of opinion concerning the ordination of women, which had been adopted by the RCA in 1979. (The RCA’s ordained offices are deacon, elder, and minister of Word and sacrament.)

Coming soon to the RCA, the next step in this "logic", i.e., ordination of homosexual persons(if they haven't started already).

Reformed Church in America (RCA) removes conscience clauses

Hey, the Episcopal Church USA, under the guidance of the high priestess Jefferts-Schori, has long since abandoned any conscience on anything, EXCEPT collecting the almighty dollar.

In fairness, Schori has asserted the fundamental right of people to be possessed by demons, and castigated the Apostle Paul for casting them out of people in Jesus’ name as another example of bigoted patriarchy.

So this means what, now they have to?

Are you comparing ordaining women to ordaining homosexuals?

The simple fact is the ordination of women is always the first step in the direction towards the ordination of homosexuals. I know that not every religious group that ordains women also ordains homosexuals(yet). But it’s the next logical step once a group abandons the male only requirements for the role of teaching elder/minister/priest set forth by the Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost in 1 Timothy 1:12.

I will pray for all those whose hearts are burdened by these changes. I have followed what has been happening in the Episcopal Church for several years now and though I am Catholic I truly grieve for what has happened to so many churches because of those who demand churches embrace the culture instead of witnessing to it.

Oh you read the gem too. But don’t forget there has been some good news with current court cases pitting the TEC against Dioceses that withdrew from it.

I am a female who believes strongly in true equality. I also believe one of the biggest disasters in the Protestant and Catholic churches is the rejection of male spiritual headship. Look at the heresy that is rife amongst our women religious for an example of what happens when such headship is weak or lacking.

“the role of teaching elder/minister/priest” set forth by the Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost in 1 Timothy 1:12.

Where in that text did Apostle Paul include ministers or priests? I believe he is referring in that passage to the positions of those who administer the workings of the church. Elders and deacons need to have qualifications for the church to select them.

JESUS CHRIST gives the gift of preaching. No litmus test is required except obedience to the call.

I am not “reformed” by any means, however, I believe what the Bible states. I do not believe in “women” pastors, a position reserved for men. When you veer from the Word of God you are in trouble.

“Are you comparing ordaining women to ordaining homosexuals?”

They are both unBiblical.
And no, I didn’t write the Bible.
