Where are you? Maybe someone can help you out. Why just a sign in date of today 06-21-13?

It wouldn’t matter if the sign up was just two seconds ago. Offering a prayer for someone, anyone, doesn’t hurt ever.
Prayers up.

I dunno. If I lived in an apartment with problem renters all around me, and had complaints with all of them. I would expect the landlord to act.

Apparently, the landlord likes his section 8 housing payments more than a lone renter that pays his rent on time.

I would leave me in a quandry as well.

Yes. I’d probably be in a quandary too. But I can’t see the need for an anonymous post.

I don’t believe it. I think it’s a fishing expedition for some sort of racist replies.

Prayers up for you.

Your situation makes me think of Clint Eastwood in "Gran Torino" His house in Detroit became surrounded by hoodlums and crack houses.

Also, perhaps there is someone at your church who can help through their position with the city/state housing division.

I know that we have a lady at our Church who helps the homeless families find apartments, homes while they are in the Interfaith Hopsitality Network for homeless families.

Any children?

Have you sought legal recourse? From your description, it sounds like you may have a case. You might seek out a lawyer who specializes in landlord-tenant issues.

To find out about low-cost or free legal services that might be available, you can consult the reference librarian at your local public library. In Southern California, many such services are listed in a publication called the Rainbow Resource Directory. This book can be found at many library reference desks in the Southland. Similar publications may be available in other areas as well.

Also, Nolo, a publisher of books on legal subjects geared to laymen has made available several books on landlord-tenant law that are available in many public libraries.

At this point, do I have any rational reason not to?

Well then, prayers up.

Though I can not see the embarrassment in being treated badly.

A question via FRmail forthcoming.

Perhaps the Lord is telling you it is His will that you move from where you are. Be open to the possibility. Contact Red Cross, Salvation Army, local housing authority, senior advocacy groups if appropriate.

Thanks to everyone who is willing to pray for me; I believe in the power of prayer, although I haven't always been the best servant of Christ. I am sure I missed some of you in my response. And thanks to Religion Moderator for confirming that I am telling the truth.

I live in Kentucky, for those asking. I didn't use my regular screen name, because I am fairly well known in my area, and am trying to avoid drawing attention to myself. For those who think that I am somehow turning a scam, or trying to get something from them...it's sad that you are that cynical of me. But that is okay; I don't want a penny from you, nor do I want to pick a fight with you or draw you into anything. Just glad to have the prayers of some good FReepers. I am blessed with a loving wife who has far more faith than I do right now. I just want to work my way out of this nightmare I am living in, and wish everyone else well also. God Bless.

First, do not be embarassed to ask for prayer. You are in a tough situation with hostile neighbors, and that isn’t any fun, no matter who they are, especially if they are threatening physical violence. Show no fear, for He is with you, but be polite in all things, and may the Almighty show you a better path soon. I will pray your living conditions improve, wherever that may lead you.

From tomorrow's Gospel.

Gospel Mt 6:24-34

Jesus said to his disciples:
“No one can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other,
or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life,
what you will eat or drink,
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds in the sky;
they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns,
yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are not you more important than they?
Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?
Why are you anxious about clothes?
Learn from the way the wild flowers grow.
They do not work or spin.
But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor
was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field,
which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow,
will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’
or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’
All these things the pagans seek.
Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself.
Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”
