Moscow/Minsk, June 24, Interfax - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the patriarch's spiritual and administrative center near Gelendzhik.
"Besides the current issues relating to dialogue between church and state, the meeting addressed issues relating to the preparations for the celebration of the 1025th of the Christening of Russia, Protodeacon Alexander Volkov, the head of the patriarch's press service, told Interfax-Religion on Monday.
The 1025th anniversary of the Christening of Russia will be marked in Moscow, Kyiv, and Minsk on July 24-30, he said. The celebrations will include services involving the heads of representatives of local Orthodox Churches.
"The Russian Orthodox Church and the state administrations of these three brotherly countries will give special attention to this date," the source said.
In the meantime, the meeting between Lukashenko and Patriarch Kirill addressed preparations for the celebrations that will be held in Minsk in late July, the Belarusian presidential press service told Interfax.
