The Bittersweet Victory: Why Gay Marriage Still Isn't Marriage (the real end game defined)
Time ^ | 6/26/2011 (yes, 2011) | Howard Chua-Eoan

(snip)

But in one very important way, gay marriage will not quite be marriage even in New York, even 30 days from now when the law goes into effect. That is because the psycho-sexual-financial-commercial-legal dramas that entangle the domestic lives of straight people often have another component: religion. And religious institutions have an exemption in the new law over accommodating gay people. It was key to the passage of the legislation.

Marriage without a church or temple wedding isn't the real thing. Why can some people have all the bells and whistles in the church of their choice but not me? Of course, there have been and will be congregations and churches that allow gay men and lesbians to be married in their midst and to bless those unions, recognizing that God loves them just as much as Governor Andrew Cuomo does. But some rich and influential religious institutions [NB: read this as the Catholic Church] are not only free to continue to reject gay men and women as equal beneficiaries of all aspects of faith but will now also rally their congregants to reject politicians who are willing to abide with this extension of secular civil rights — no matter how much acceptance there is of same-sex marriage elsewhere, no matter how many wedding announcements appear in the New York Times.

There are plenty of “churches” that will “sanctify” the demonic arrangements of homosexuals. Of course they may not be the preferred denominations but that sort of homosexxuals do not believe in anything but what they desire for themselves and the approval of a “church” is so they can give the finger to real married people and say see, we are as good as your or rather, see, we are better than you are. All of these things are in reality only ploys by the communists to gain total control. When they have that control then certain ideals of the Feminists, and homosexualization of the society is very much part of their own goals, they will see that it marginalizes women perhaps to the level of Moslem women. Men will rule, even when women have the votes to force the direction of that rule and men who get their sexual gratification from boys until they take real wives will turn women into cattle and women will then lose even the power of the vote. That is the history of male female relationships outside of the Judaeo Christian tradition, at least in Western civilization and in central Asia.

Why do you think I have a naive view of the situation?

Because they won't be satisfied until they have corrupted or destroyed the Catholic Church. If you think they'll be happy with getting married in the Episcopal community, the Lutheran community (well, the ELCA), the Presbyterian community (well, the PCUSA), etc., you're fooling yourself.

...they're products of screwed up hormones in the womb according to latest research.
About 20 yrs ago an article in Time about genetic research mentioned that some scientists said a day will come when certain personality traits, particularly a predisposition to criminal behaviour and homosexuality can be determined by testing fetal DNA. If their really is such a thing as a "gay" gene or a "mean" gene that can be identified and isolated, all the hand-wringing over medical ethics in the world will not prevent the cat being let out of the bag. Then it will only be a matter of time when a woman seeks an abortion after her doc tells her the "unviable tissue mass" she's carrying around carries one of these genes. THEN, let's see how many pro abortion activists turn into pro lifers.

Perhaps the RC Church could put places that enact laws that codify abortion and homosexual marriage rights under an interdict.

No marriages.
No baptisms.
No burials.
No confession.

Turn from evil, without compromise, without stain.

“This is the end game. Churches and churchmen will be sued into bankruptcy if they refuse to go along.”

It is the end game in a different way: societies that allow “gay marriage” are already being swallowed whole by cultures that don’t (this includes the US). Normal young Americans have stopped marrying (and breeding) for a whole host of legal, financial, and cultural reasons, and they are being replaced by darker, primitive people who rightfully view homosexuality as a sin against God. These newcomers DO marry & breed, and they are inheriting the earth.

Actually they already have those laws:

Now if the hierarchy would actually actively enforce the law...(sound like a familiar problem??)

I was suggesting a slight difference.

The medieval church would put an entire country under the interdict. Say they did it to all of California.

No religious burials for any catholics. No catholic baptisms. No catholic marriages. No confessions. No mass.
No sacraments of extreme unction.

Do you think that the RC population of CA could turn it around?

Churches and churchmen will be sued into bankruptcy if they refuse to go along.

If they're lucky.

This was always about obtaining a marriage license. They were never trying to force any Church to marry them.

This isn’t a victory. They got exactly what they wanted and sooner or later some Churches will start performing ceremonies for them. Not any main stream ones, but they can start their own churches if they want to. I see nothing Bittersweet here.

No. I think about 1/8 of them (the ones who are still faithful) would leave the state and the other 7/8 would burn the bishops at the stake.

In a lot of cases (Mahony and Blair come to mind), that would be no loss. But Cordileone I think has some potential...and I'd hate to see him get martyred.

Totalitarians usually aren't quite this blunt, but clearly the author intends for churches NOT to be free to accept or reject people on their terms, and intends for the government to be the guarantor. We are informed today that the head totalitarian, one Barack Hussein 0bama, has decided in his infinite mercy not to "force" churches to perform gay marriages. Clearly he is equally of a mind that he is somehow entitled to do so.

Survivors of the Soviet Union and its slave states will recall this form of secular state persecution. It doesn't end well for either party.
