But in one very important way, gay marriage will not quite be marriage even in New York, even 30 days from now when the law goes into effect. That is because the psycho-sexual-financial-commercial-legal dramas that entangle the domestic lives of straight people often have another component: religion. And religious institutions have an exemption in the new law over accommodating gay people. It was key to the passage of the legislation.
Marriage without a church or temple wedding isn't the real thing. Why can some people have all the bells and whistles in the church of their choice but not me? Of course, there have been and will be congregations and churches that allow gay men and lesbians to be married in their midst and to bless those unions, recognizing that God loves them just as much as Governor Andrew Cuomo does. But some rich and influential religious institutions [NB: read this as the Catholic Church] are not only free to continue to reject gay men and women as equal beneficiaries of all aspects of faith but will now also rally their congregants to reject politicians who are willing to abide with this extension of secular civil rights no matter how much acceptance there is of same-sex marriage elsewhere, no matter how many wedding announcements appear in the New York Times.

This is the end game. Churches and churchmen will be sued into bankruptcy if they refuse to go along.
The End Game is destroying Christianity and Western Civilization.
the end game of the homosexualists...ping.
I’m not religious but I would absolutely stand by any church’s right to refuse to perform gay marriage. That a church could be forced to violate their beliefs is repugnant. Unfortunately, I have no doubt this is where it’s heading and the precedent of forcing religious institutions to violate their tenets has already been set with Obamacare.
The wisest thing churches could do is learn to live now without tax exempt status. It’s going to become a shackle to control them, to preach only what the government approves of.
“And religious institutions have an exemption in the new law over accommodating gay people.”
Well DUH.
We do business with a large concern, the major players are all homosexuals and activists in the sense that they spend their money to support gay rights.
Knowing these people on a social and business level, I’ve come to believe that they want very much to be considered “normal”. They want public acceptance of their lifestyle so that they can feel good about themselves. They want the straights to make them feel okay about being gay.
Not going to happen, because a single gender couple can never function the same as a two gender couple - physically or emotionally or mentally. I don’t care what laws you pass, single gender couples are never going to get what they really want.
They're still going to feel strange. They're still going to feel alienated. They're still going to feel like things aren't right in their lives.
And they're still going to blame it all on something outside themselves.
I wonder what will be next.
Well, I know what will be next. Attacks on freedom of religion and freedom of association. Then (assuming they win on those, which they very well may) attacks on freedom of speech and freedom of thought.
I don't think they'll get as far as that last one because at some point before then there will be an all-out civil war, and the United States will split up.
The fight to force churches to accept gay marriage would be just as long if not a longer fight than the one they have already waged.
The real immediate harm is the medical harm. Homosexual behavior, as a whole, is a destructive and medically dangerous sexual behavior. The CDC has numbers and so do a lot of other international organizations: gays are the biggest proponent of spreading STDs.
The media hides that information well, but year after year, city after city, and state after state, the rates of dangerous STDs go up and up and up exponentially and its always traced back to homosexuals.
Its one of those things where you just sit back and wait.....their movement will collapse in on itself in a spectacular fashion because there will someday soon be more homosexuals with multiple STDs than there are homosexuals who dont have STDs.
The reality is, I foresee in my lifetime a point where the whole gay sub-population is ravaged with untreatable strains of syphilis and almost all of them have either HIV or AIDs.
SHTF is going to happen long before this happens.
Agree. They want to be “normal” in the eyes of those who will never see them that way.
Let me know which mosque will be first to perform a gay marriage ceremony.
Yep. There will always be “real” marriage and that other thing, regardless what they want to call it. They’ll never catch that laser dot on the floor. It will always elude them.
Well, some do. Maybe most. I wouldn’t consider those the activists though. I don’t think the activists want to be thought of as normal. Normal people don’t demand that everyone else’s lives revolve around them. Normal people don’t militantly demand you warp your faith to cater to their whims.
As I stated above, I’m not religious. If a church didn’t want to marry my girlfriend and me because I’m not a believer, I certainly wouldn’t blame the church. They have an absolute right to their beliefs, and their beliefs long predate my existence. I can’t imagine trying to force a church to do it. I don’t have such a bloated sense of self importance.
But I know that’s what the militant gays will do.
They don’t really need a ‘mosque’ to get people married. Just a learned Muslim to officiate the man’s words to wed the ‘wife’, witnesses, and some kind of dowry would be enough for Islamic wedding.
CA already wants to cancel Boy Scouts tax exempt status over not allowing gay leaders/masters.
Obama should nuke or drone attack any churches that won’t perform gay marriages.
