Reason #4549 for Summorum Pontificum (A real hoot!)

A priest friend sent this. I share it for your … edification.

One of the first things I thought of as I watched that is that the same crowd who like this stuff are the one’s who say that lace on a surplice suggests some kind of… you know…

LOL!

This is how they do it at Berkeley.

Please, someone, download this before it is removed.

Hmmm. Performed to Aaron Copeland’s “Appalachian Spring,” which is variations on the theme from the Shaker hymn “It’s a Gift to be Simple.”

Not sure what it has to do with the Feast of the Resurection, although it might be argued that it is appropriate for the Old (Pagan) Anglo-Saxon Festival of Easter (EOstre).

I guess we are fortunate that they didn’t select Stravinski’s “Rites of Spring.”

ROFL!!!!

Looks like something from a Sci-Fi movie. The "church" (I guess) looks like a set from "Stargate SG-1"

Is the square box with holes supposed to be the altar? What is the purpose of the holes?

100% thumbs-down rating.

At least some people have sense and taste.

As a Catholic, I’ll try to enlighten:

Ridiculous people show up in the darndest places.

As a practicing Catholic, so would I. The only time I ever witnessed a liturgical dance was in a protestant church. This 'novelty' is actually banned by the US bishops, but some of them close their eyes. The video is from a chapel on the campus of Berkleigh Univ ... need I say more.

The altar seems to have a shocked expression and the lectern resembles the apple trees in The Wizard of Oz.

I was watching this with the video’s sound off because I was listening to music on Pandora. About 30 seconds into the video “Enter Sandman” started playing. Watching these people “dance” while Metallica plays is hilarious!

BTW, when they entered and bowed, what exactly were they bowing towards? It wasn’t the altar and I can see no tabernacle. Maybe the industrial strength, ugly back wall of the “sanctuary”.

The world is full of lunatics. This video captures the antics of some of them. The people whom "Alice" met during her sojourn in "Wonderland" were quite sane, by comparison.

I suppose. Nothing is quite clear.

What is the purpose of the holes?

They are portals into the 24th dimension. The aliens materialize from them ... after everyone has smoked sufficient happy-weed.

Here’s my take. The music is from a song the Lord of the Dance. I will post a copy of lyrics below. I’ve sung this in the women’s choir at church functions (Lutheran) and it is really very beautiful, but in Berkely is becomes most gay and cheerful, don’t you think? (rolls eyes) An odd way of setting the altar, perhaps?

Lord Of The Dance by Sydney Carter

I danced in the morning when the world was young
I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun
I came down from heaven and I danced on the earth
At Bethlehem I had my birth

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

I danced for the scribes and the Pharisees
They wouldn’t dance, they wouldn’t follow me
I danced for the fishermen James and John
They came with me so the dance went on

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

I danced on the Sabbath and I cured the lame
The holy people said it was a shame
They ripped, they stripped, they hung me high
Left me there on the cross to die

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

I danced on a Friday when the world turned black
It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back
They buried my body, they thought I was gone
But I am the dance, and the dance goes on

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

They cut me down and I leapt up high
I am the life that will never, never die
I’ll live in you if you’ll live in me
I am the Lord of the dance, said he

Dance, dance, wherever you may be
I am the lord of the dance, said he
And I lead you all, wherever you may be
And I lead you all in the dance, said he

I’ve never seen a liturgical dance performance that was anything but awkward. Frolic does not belong on the altar.
