(Please only post if you are on the Oswald Chambers and/or Joel Osteen threads ping list or read them daily.)
Hi everyone, I begin a new job this week and it will become hard to post the Daily Reflections with Oswald Chambers and the Today's Word with Joel Osteen threads every morning.
To give you some history, the Chambers thread is an institution on Free Republic. I began posting it sometime around 2006 (if my memory is correct) and I believe I have the longest tenure of posting it on FR. I created the Osteen thread roughly four years ago.
I'm willing to keep these going but wanted to let everyone know once upon a time this responsibility was passed around. And if I keep them going something will have to change.
The options:
Do people care if these threads go away? (I'm just curious about the demand.)
Is anyone committed enough to take over posting the Chambers and/or Osteen threads every morning?
In the worse case I may be able to continue posting them, however they would be posted at night and the Osteen thread would be a day behind it's current message.
Vision, congratulations! I’m so happy for you.
I appreciate the Chambers threads very much....and Vision, never underestimate the positive effects that the Chambers thread and this ministry may have had on those who read them. (I can’t speak to the Osteen ones, I don’t read those) I’d wager that many have found solace, comfort and perhaps even been encouraged toward salvation because of reading Oswald Chambers. I have no doubt that your posts have helped others and that glorifies Jesus.
I cannot make the commitment to a daily thread posting, I understand your dilemma with the new job. Whatever happens, I just want to thank you once again, for being so faithful with these posts.
I appreciate all the devotions! Thank you!
I, too, appreciate the devotions
No antagonism at all...just truth.
And it seems that the majority of posters agree with me...dump Osteen.
Just sayin’.
My thoughts exactly.
All that ecumenical stuff...believers are not ecumenical.
I certainly didn’t mean to antagonize, and thought it was open to readers of the articles as per the first line of the body of the thread.
Congratulations on your new job. If it makes posting Osteen more difficult, maybe the Lord is trying to tell you something.
Do people care if these threads go away? (I'm just curious about the demand.)
You've worked on these daily threads for 7 years. That's more than anyone here could ask. To demand more from you now--knowing that you're starting a new job--would be very selfish of us.
I can receive daily messages from any ministry I choose through Facebook, and I can read them in peace there, without having to endure comments from FR's peanut gallery. I much prefer that.
But whatever you choose to do, know that the work and prayer you've invested in these threads is greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten--especially by our Father in Heaven. God bless you, Vision. And thank you.
I don’t care for the Osteen posts, myself. He is not always sound in his teaching and can be very misleading in interviews about what he believes, but Oswald Chambers is great. He is a known commodity, dependable in its Biblical authority. He does not give his own interpretations of Scripture, but gives insights into Scriptural passages that the lay person might miss in a literal reading.
