What would Jesus drive?

Pope Francis said on Saturday it pained him to see priests driving flashy cars, and told them to pick something more "humble".

As part of his drive to make the Catholic Church more austere and focus on the poor, Francis told young and trainee priests and nuns from around the world that having the latest smartphone or fashion accessory was not the route to happiness.

"It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can't do this," he said.

"A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world," he said.

The Pope was speaking to young priests and nuns and not laypeople. In this case he is correct to encourage them to be frugal as their vows, which they chose to take, include frugality or even poverty.

Jesus drove a stretched Honda Accord. I know that because in the Gospel it says that Jesus and his apostles left in one Accord.

What would Jesus drive?

He's a carpenter. A big pickup with 4 wheel drive and dual tires on the back, and a tool chest mounted in the bed behind the cab. It's probably pretty dusty and beat up.

The Bible tells us that Jesus and the Apostles were in one Accord; so He would drive a Honda.

The Bible tells us that Jesus and the Apostles were in one Accord; so He would drive a Honda.

But he drove the moneychangers out of the Temple in a Fury.

Well if this sinner had any say in the matter, it would need to have a big-block.

Sounds like he wants to give free stuff to the "poor."

Haven't we been doing that for the past fifty years?

Now we have "poor" people with multiple cars, air conditioning and flatscreen TVs.

My pastor drives one of those tiny Fiats. Pea green.

Doesn’t get much more humble than that.

He would drive either a muscle car, like a GTO, because that gets the chicks, and Mary Magdalene would be impressed; or he would drive an SUV with all the accoutrement's such as a loudspeaker so he could talk to multitudes on, at least, the bunny hill.

Seriously, I'm pretty sure they didn't invent cars 'til much later.
