Featured Term (selected at random):
DEMONOLOGY
The science or doctrine concerning demons. Already in ancient times, among the Jews and outside the Judaic tradition, belief in demons was common. The modern interest in demons is partly the natural reaction of the people in societies where generations of rationalism and skepticism have ignored or ridiculed the existence of evil spirits who are permitted by God to prowl around "like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (I Peter 5:8).
