Georgetown to Cover Contraception, Sandra Fluke Declares Victory
Cardinal Newman Society ^ | 7/19/13 | Matthew Archbold

Georgetown University’s health insurance will cover contraception starting next month for students, faculty, and staff.

The announcement came in the form of a blast email to the entire campus from university president John DeGioia, indicating that because the Affordable Care Act requires that all insurance policies cover contraceptives (including abortifacients and sterilization procedures), all students, faculty, and staff will have that coverage, which goes into effect August 15th. Wrote DeGioia:

These regulations give us the opportunity to reconcile our religious identity and our commitment to providing access to affordable health care. Under the framework established by the Administration, the University’s insurance companies will cover the costs of contraceptive services for Georgetown faculty, staff and students who opt to use them, regardless of which health care plan each person has. We will continue to provide our community with access to affordable health care options, and women will have access to contraceptives at no cost to them or to the University.

According to The Hoya, students will still not be able to acquire contraception at the clinic on campus but they will be able to acquire contraception through the university’s insurance policy off campus.

The regulations from the Obama administration require insurance companies themselves to pay directly for contraceptive services for employees and students of non-profit organizations, like Georgetown, that oppose providing coverage for contraceptive services on religious grounds.

ps: wasn’t Georgetown one of the schools that agreed to cover up its Christian “identity symbols” when O went there to visit/speak/campaign? or am I mistaken

Next thing you know, she’ll demand reimbursement for all the cash she’s going to have to slip some guy to keep all that “free” contraception from going to waste. For her sake and the school’s, I hope she’s content with supporters of the Democratic [sic] party: lower standards often result in lower entertainment costs.

Georgetown long ago lost its credibility as a school that promoted anything Christian.

What an insufferable suck up this clown is - he would have gone along with Hitler. The Jesuit colleges in this country are no longer Catholic - their religion is leftist politics.

In a few years we can look at statistics to see if there is a lower out of wedlock birth rate. Also, see if there is a lower abortion rate. No excuses anymore with free birth control.

this is a real shame, and it has happened at a good number of Christian schools, too

very unfortunate as a chief reason to attend such a school is to experience a generally-Christian campus environment ... not one that teaches patently anti-Biblical ideas pretty much across the spectrum, and not one that issues awards to notoriously anti-Christian politicians ... and not one that provides abortions for goodness’s sakes!

the Bishop should quietly tell Georgetown to shape up or ship out....

All the best Christian schools eventfully fall prey to the whims of Satan. After all, until Jesus returns, this world is his ... to go to and fro seeking that which he can profane.

Assuming the bishop disagrees.

Yes. Assuming the bishop disagrees with all this stuff. Or assuming he decides to honor his vows regardless of his personal opinions.

The bishops are too busy pushing amnesty for illegal aliens to worry about Catholic universities becoming secular whorehouses.

The “magic potions” described in Revelation 9:21 are abortifacient/contraceptive drugs.

“Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic potions, their unchastity, of their robberies.”
