Moscow, July 30, Interfax - Prominent sculptor Zurab Tsereteli has cast a statue of Jesus Christ which, when set up, may become the highest statue of Christ in Europe.
It was cast in St. Petersburg and is 33 meters high - as many meters as the years Christ lived on Earth, and its pedestal is another 50 meters high, which, overall, makes it 83 meters tall, the sculptor said.
He also said that the sculpture will be five meters taller than the statue of Christ in Lisbon, believed to be the highest in Europe.
Tsereteli said he had been offered to place the monument on a Caucasus summit in Georgia. "But I hope it will find a place in Russia. I have no doubts," Tsereteli said.
Tsereteli is president of the Russian Academy of Arts and is a prominent sculptor. His monuments can be seen in many countries.

As a follower of Jesus, I wish there were no Jesus statues in the whole world. Such a low view of who he is.
How can anyone make a statue of Jesus when no one knows what he looked like?

And he is talking about Muslims as well as Christians influence by Muslims.
I Kings 6:23-36; 7:27-39; 8:6-67 - Solomon’s temple contains statues of cherubim and images of cherubim, oxen and lions. God did not condemn these images that were used in worship.
2 Kings 18:4 - it was only when the people began to worship the statue did they incur God’s wrath, and the king destroyed it. The command prohibiting the use of graven images deals exclusively with the false worship of those images.
1 Chron. 28:18-19 - David gives Solomon the plan for the altar made of refined gold with a golden cherubim images. These images were used in the Jews’ most solemn place of worship.
2 Chron. 3:7-14 - the house was lined with gold with elaborate cherubim carved in wood and overlaid with gold.
Ezek. 41:15 - Ezekiel describes graven images in the temple consisting of carved likenesses of cherubim. These are similar to the images of the angels and saints in many Catholic churches.
Col. 1:15 - the only image of God that Catholics worship is Jesus Christ, who is the “image” (Greek “eikon”) of the invisible God.
The Patriarch of Constantinople etc. pointed out that Jesus is God incarnate in visible matter, therefore the icons etc. are not depicting invisible God but God as He appeared in the flesh, so the icons depict a real person.

Such discernment is a Gift from Him. He is our Teacher and to discern Him is one of the things He teaches. There is so much we have closed our selves off from in what Jesus called our "era of no faith at all" on March 17, 1988.
You apparently misread my post. I am not making a case for iconoclasm. I am simply asking how one can make a statue of Jesus when there's no description in the Bible as to what he looked like.
How is it that iconoclasm is Islamic in origin? In AD 730, when you say that it arose, the Roman Empire was ruled by the emperor Leo III, who defeated the Muslims.
