VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis’ comments on homosexuality during a press conference on the papal plane back from World Youth Day in Rio were largely misreported by the mainstream press, according to a Vatican official and a Church expert.
During a surprise and wide-ranging in-flight press conference Sunday that lasted 80 minutes, Pope Francis reportedly said: “If someone is gay, and he searches for the Lord and has goodwill, who am I to judge? We shouldn’t marginalize people for this. They must be integrated into society.”
“The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains this very well,” the Holy Father went on. “It says one must not marginalize these persons; they must be integrated into society,” he said, and he reportedly made the distinction between homosexual acts, which are sinful, and tendencies, which are not.
“The problem isn’t this [homosexual] orientation — we must be like brothers and sisters. The problem is something else, the problem is lobbying, either for this orientation or a political lobby or a Masonic lobby,” he said. The Pope recently said a “gay lobby” exists in the Vatican, which protects some priests and threatens to blackmail others.
The Catechism states that the number of men and women who have “deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible.” The inclination is “objectively disordered,” it continues, and “constitutes for most of them a trial” (2358).
It adds, “They must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition” (2358).

Did you read it?
Yes, the “homosexual bloc” in the Church was actually what he was talking about. Why don’t you read the full transcript, even in translation?
They need more than chiding!
", , , but theres really no way to prevent thepressusual liars from going wild."
fixed if for you
It signaled a change of tone, I said nothing about a change of policy.
As far as we know, the use of the word gay was a change as well, again, nothing was said by me about not answering about the homosexual issues within the church.
It would save time if you didn’t have people having to respond to things that they aren’t posting.
Well, thanks for simply repeating my statement back to me, I knew he was talking about the homosexual bloc, why waste time with a post like you made?
I am sure the ‘biggest’ part of this problem is the Pope sort of ‘assumed’ that people KNOW/KNEW that one of the first laws/instructions to Priests is being Celibate.
Kind of like an economist addressing an assembly of Black people and using the N......ly word instead of Cheap.
Correct word but not quite the proper time and place.
If you follow RULE #1 and ‘keep it in your pants’ the rest all sort of fall into line and it doesn’t matter what your likes/dislikes are.
I had said at the height of the ‘scandal’ inre Priests/Altar Boys when the ‘powers that be were wringing their collective hands’ wondering what to do.
Enforce Rule #1. Priest gets suspended for breaking his vows, investigate and prosecute where and when necessary.
As long as the press etal continue to ‘listen’ to Biden and Pelosi when it comes to being Catholic, they will continue to ‘step on their tallywacker’ whenever the chance is there.
I know the Nuns never (actually) uttered the words
“That thing is for procreation NOT recreation”
That is the very interview that I said that he used the word gay in, why do you keep directing me back to it as proof of something? Read post 5 again.
I asked if you read it, because it says something very different from what the media and you are claiming it does.

Dr. of Spin, is that a Jesuit specialty?
On his papal coat or arms he has a loose cannon?
What I am claiming? So he didn’t use the word “gay”?
NPR wet its pants reporting this story.
—— I knew the second I saw the headline what happened. -——
Yup. The media is the enemy. We must boycott them and their sponsors.
Why doesn’t the Vatican just yank the press passes of reporters who mis-report what the Pope or any Vatican spokesman says. Maybe give one warning, then pull their credentials.
What planet is he on? This hasn't been a problem for 20 years. The problem now is discrimination against heterosexual people, normal families, and especially, their Christian religious beliefs. Come on pope, what about us???
Popes for ages never gave press interviews. Sadly, instead of “hate the sin and love the sinner” with the admonition immediately following to “go and sin no more,” the gay media views this comment as an affirmation of their Sodomite lifestyle. The words of Pope Francis were treated by Gays and their fellow-travelers in the media not as words of forgiveness but as sweet comfort for continuing in their current lifestyle. Can anyone explain why we have a Gay, Lesbian, & Transgender Journalist Association?
In the world of gay politics and media coverage, unless one shows an unequivocal abhorrence to homosexuality, these perverts will never get the message. Indeed, they have no compunction about staging theatricals with Christ and his Apostles as being gay. Francis made a huge and unfortunate public relations gaffe following his hugely successful first international trip as Pope to World Youth Day. Trust, the Vatican learns this lesson well or else we’ll be stuck with a loose cannon at the helm.
I agree, in fact it is sort of like Vatican II — the interpretation, execution and consequences become more important than the original statements. Judge by the fruits.
Se una persona è gay e cerca...
Which translates to...
If a person is gay and tries
I must admit I'm a bit surprised he used the actual word "gay", as it's an English word I believe. But I guess it's usurpation extends to other languages as well.
Regards,
LOL. Is that like knowing what the meaning of "is" is?
