Speaking of relics, a joke from Martin Luther:

“A German, making his confession to a priest at Rome, promised, on oath, to keep secret whatsoever the priest should impart unto him, until he reached home; whereupon the priest gave him a leg of the ass on which Christ rode into Jerusalem, very neatly bound up in silk, and said: This is the holy relic on which the Lord Christ corporally did sit, with his sacred legs touching this ass’s leg. Then was the German wondrous glad, and carried the said holy relic with him into Germany. When he got to the borders, he bragged of his holy relic in the presence of four others, his comrades, when, lo! it turned out that each of them had likewise received from the same priest a leg, after promising the same secrecy. Thereupon, all exclaimed, with great wonder: Lord! had that ass five legs?”

Thanks for the link. Luther married a nun? I didn’t know that or that he married. I had two nun cousins who came out of the convent and married and they scored big - both married real great men.

I laugh every time they bring out the Luther card; yet, are calling former catholics ‘home’. LOL! They aren’t even in unity with their own minds! They need a Luther button to reset themselves.

Father, it’s been a week since my last confession. I have a Luther button on my belly. I feel a strange need to leave the CC and never look back. Will I turn into a pillar of salt if I do?

Go, my child, I’m right behind you for I confess I recently got a Luther button on my navel, also. BTW, are you married and can you cook? Your penance is to cook me a 7 course meal. I feel the need to eat like a glutton today - and celebrate. And don’t look back as I am on a restricted salt diet because this closet makes my BP rise. I hate when I have closet duty.

And they lived happily ever after.

No, no, I do. But my point is that the entire Bible is not actually read. Pieces of it are missing from the lectionary. I remember reading that all of the New Testament is read, but something like only 90% of the Old Testament is read. And what’s missing are some genealogies.

Hiya CB!! And you too Salvation.

Why does it even matter?

Stuff like this takes away the focus from Jesus and puts it on things that are not important. Where any apostle or disciple died doesn’t alter what Jesus did on the cross.

Just like the Paul discussion the other day, I think you guys are focusing on the wrong thing...lose the denominational stuff and go out into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ...not the gospel of Catholics or Protestants. I am sure Satan loves this stuff because it keeps people busy arguing instead of doing what we were called to do.

Just sayin’!!

Though there have been Popes who have died like that, some of them in bed with other men’s wives too.

And the irony is that Luther is condemned for marrying; a perfectly legitimate activity to engage in.

lol, considering this is the same answer I get each time I do it (from you, usually!), though no Romanist has ever embarrassed me in any way with any stunning reply or display of wit, I think there is no real negative for me to engage in this activity.

the only thing we get from them is opinions and unsubstantiated claims.

If they even ever do reference things, they rarely use Scripture but rather appeal to opinion pieces about Scripture from their long dead *church fathers*.

Not a chance of being embarrassed by someone who cannot even back up any assertions they make.

Taken in context, something I realize that most Catholics know precious little about, Jesus is telling His disciples not to address any religious leader by the title of *father*.

But of course, since the Catholic church has chosen to blatantly disregard this direct and clear command of Jesus Himself, they have to find some convoluted rationalization to excuse their disobedience.

And really, even if Jesus meant that no child should call his father *father*, does that excuse the disobedience of the Catholic church in this matter? Sorry but I highly doubt, *Well everyone else does it* is going to pass muster with God when He asks why you disobeyed Him.

And your male parent is your......

That argument is one borne of sheer desperation.

Again, not even a shred of Scriptural support to justify it.

Just rationalization and excuses.

Like usual......

How about you read other than ANTI-Catholic propaganda then get back to me.

I read anti- (Roman) Catholic propaganda every day. It is best known as the Bible! It clearly resolves the question of the worlds' largest cult, know as Roman Catholicism...

... The cult leaders need to make you believe that there is no where else you can go and still be saved, and if you ever leave the “one true church” then you are going to hell. This is a fear based control mechanism designed to keep you in the cult. It also gives the cult leaders tremendous power over you. If you really believe that leaving the group equals leaving God (or means you are leaving your only chance to succeed in life), then you will obey the cult leaders even when you disagree with them instead of risking being kicked out of the group. Exclusivism is used as a threat, it controls your behavior through fear.

Be very suspicious of any group that claims to be better than all the others. A religious group may say that other groups following the same religion are OK, but they are the ones who have a better grasp of the truth and they are superior to the rest. This is often just a subtle version of exclusivism. ... -http://www.howcultswork.com

Which explains why Catholics constantly are trying to find out what church others attend.

So they can tell us how wrong we are.

It really pushes them over the edge when no one co-operates with their games.
