I'm curious to hear if anyone heard a pro-amnesty or pro-immigration-reform message in worship today.
Note: this is a Reformed/Evangelical Caucus thread. Meaning if you are anything but a currently practicing Reformed or Evangelical Christian, please feel free to read...but don't post. And for those who are Reformed and Evangelical Christians, please do not post or make comments about other believers.
Nothing from our Minister. We are Episcopalian. Actually liked her sermon based on today’s readings.
I’ve not been able to parse the distinction between Lutheran and Evangelical, but in the several Missouri Synod Lutheran congregations in which I have held membership since 1954 the political issues of the day were not ever sermon topics.
Always. But we do have a lot of “love your fellow fags” sermons.
Would this have anything to do with another thread on a similar topic or did you decide to ask this question in a moment of inspiration? Remember, lying is a sin. For what it’s worth I’m an active Baptist so in “the caucus.”
My pastor teaches from the bible, so no.
Most illegal aliens aren’t Protestant, or care enough for the rule of law that they would be interested in conversion, so there’s just no motivation for it.
Our pastor said he was going to give us the best sermon in his life and then proceeded to read us the sermon on the mount. He’s pretty tricky that way.
We’re going to go through the beatitudes for the next twelve weeks so I think we’re good.
That’s when I would stand up, walk out and never look back.
Nope. The message I heard today at a church I visited was on reflecting the glory of God.
Not a word about illegals or amnesty, or anything political.
But not answering is not lying.....
I'm curious to hear if anyone heard a pro-amnesty or pro-immigration-reform message in worship today.
Nope. The pastor is continuing to work methodically through Luke, with a discussion of the last supper, Luke 22:14-23.
Any reason we might be seeing something about immigration reform this Lord's Day, in certain circles?
Ive not been able to parse the distinction between Lutheran and Evangelical
"What is an 'evangelical'?" is complicated. The answer depends on place and time. Once upon a time it was synonymous with "protestant". Lutherans in particular, of all stripes, seem to like the term.
Some argue that the term isn't very useful at this time.
Always. But we do have a lot of love your fellow fags sermons.
Local UCC had a "pride fest", and a bunch of folks decided they'd had enough and exited. I've heard rumor (with a few steps between the teller and the source) that this result was deliberate on the pastor's part.
It happened too in our parish. Before it was monthly, and the priests notices people walking out so it became annual LOL.
They also did the “multi-cultural” mass I kid you not. Because they wanted to kowtow to the “multicultural demographics”, the mass was split into 3 parts. English, Spanish and Filipino, I think and the parishioners got mad again complaining they were getting headaches from the language switch.
Evangelical doesn’t mean anything anymore when you have John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, Rick Warren and Joel Osteen all calling themselves evangelicals.
We started our Sermon on the Mount series 2 weeks ago, plan to be finished in February.
No hint of anything political.
