Somebody needs to snope snopes.
Go back 100 years. To the this all stared.
Uh-oh! Will they ever get a semon on that now!
You’re not the first....
I agree snopes has gross bias. Frankly, it is just a liberal mouthpiece.
Nonetheless, the story has questions attached to it. Not sure what to think about it, nice story? Did it happen?
We don’t allow folks to come in and panhandle our members on Sunday morning. And anyone who doesn’t understand that needs to get out of their suburban cocoon and meet some real urban panhandlers. Hungry? We’ll direct you to food. Need shelter, the same. Want money? Come in Monday morning and fill out an application.
your fingers out paced your brain on that post......
Yes-—Welfare-—it destroys Charity always.
Solzhenitsyn stated in his 78 Harvard Commencement address-—as he quoted a Russian mathematician who wrote a book on “Socialism” who stated....”....even a little bit of socialism, rots the soul”.
The conditioning which occurs with government programs, always removes the responsibility from God and oneself in the minds of the people, and then the State becomes god and makes the masses believe that there really is no God, but the State. Welfare is Communism/Socialism— it always erases God/morality from the minds of children/people.
"I apologize (see further down in thread) I posted the article before properly vetting the story."
copied under CTRL V to post to everyone who caught it.
Perhaps. Care to comment on the substance?
some people are poor because of thingsbeyond their cointrol.
some are poor because they won’t work.
some of the most selfish people are poor.
money may make it easier for some to be an ass others, but being poor makes it easier for some to feel entitled to others’ stuff.
New King James Version (NKJV)
20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
22 Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
24 “But woe to you who are rich,
For you have received your consolation.
25 Woe to you who are full,
For you shall hunger.
Woe to you who laugh now,
For you shall mourn and weep.
26 Woe to you[a] when all[b] men speak well of you,
For so did their fathers to the false prophets.
You beat me to it. This specific story is bogus. However when I researched it months ago I found that a similar story actually did occur wit similar results.
God give us bounty. God wants us to share our bounty. If we don’t He takes it away from us.
Why would you finance someone who isn’t giving you a return?
Jesus said the poor will always be with us. It is a challenge. You bet.
maybe you’ve missed the trillions of dollars taken from us to give to the richest poor in the world.
maybe you forget that evey year private donations to the poor are the most from the usa, greatly surpassing any other nation on earth.
maybe that when there’s a problem anywhere else in the world we’re there with bodies and aid of all kinds.
maybe forgeting that american poor live at a level others in the world would dream to rise up to.
and this is from a person who was poor at times, lower middle class the rest, all the way growing up.
it’s not always a monetary return, he’s looking for us to share the good news with others.
No problem. Most of us have probably seen examples of us imperfect people who are Christians; partially behaving this way!
