Isn't Peter writing about PROPHECY as given in what we call the Old Testament? On the meaning of PROPHECY, the Holy Spirit is responsible. But on other passages we are not warned to NOT reason it out, and in fact Paul instructs that we are to do just that, to apply other scriptural texts in order to gleen meaning.

It looks like the Sola Yourselfa master expects everyone to throw out a good many parts of the New Testament and, gee whiz, when someone who has Self and Self Alone as their highest authority pontificates we better all believe what they say.
