They were masquerading as part of the church, but they were perverting the Gospel of Christ while pretending to spread it.

the Apostles were the only ones in possession of the scriptures and whatever written documents that there were....how does one "go out" from that????

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Hmmm, they must of only done that when the apostles were with them. Oh wait, they did that even when the apostles weren’t there! And now you say the apostles “were the only ones in possession of the scriptures”? The Holy Spirit inspires Paul to write that they had the scriptures and you say they didn’t. Who to believe?
