France Rules Mayors Cannot Refuse to Marry Gay Couples

France's highest court ruled on Friday that the country's mayors cannot refuse to officiate at same-sex marriages, rejecting a bid by a group of mayors who claimed gay marriage went against their moral or religious beliefs.

The Constitutional Council's ruling followed an appeal by mayors and registrars opposed to France’s controversial bill legalising same-sex marriages, which came into effect in May this year.

They argued that the same-sex marriage bill should have included a “freedom of conscience” clause, giving officiators the right not to carry out same-sex marriages if it conflicts with their personal religious or moral beliefs. The lack of such a clause in the bill goes against the French constitution, they claim.

But the Council, France’s highest legal authority, rejected this argument in its ruling on Friday morning.

If you belong to a church in the US that receives tax exemption, you will be going through the same thing soon. Your church will have no choice.

Fortunately, I belong to a church that has never asked for nor receive tax exemption status. We preach what we want, when we want, how we want, and will always refuse to wed perverts.

Time for another French Revolution or their socialists hacks will permanently turn it into French toast.

This is a sick ruling. So France will charge and potentially jail Mayors who refuse to “marry” these? New World Order.

France Rules Mayors Cannot Refuse to Marry Gay Couples...marriage is a religious concept - the acknowledgement, acceptance, and blessing of a union of two people by the church, and hence God - if your relationship is so shaky that you need to have it acknowledged, accepted and blessed by some politician mayor, good luck to ya'......

When you are in the Army, you want your marriage to be legal, having your wives recognized by your Mosque doesn’t mean that they are legally your wives nor does your Mosque make divorce law that is binding to your ex-wife.

Time for another French Revolution or their socialists hacks will permanently turn it into French toast.

Maybe you ought to think about that a little bit. This is the direct result of the French Revolution.

The Revolution launched a whole program of "dechristianization" within France. Policies taken up by the revolutionary state were radically anti-Christ. For example, they sought to replace the traditional Gregorian calendar with a "Republican Calendar" that got rid of the 7 day week (replacing it with 10 day "decades" and 12 months made up of 3 decades each). Why? Because of the Christian influence of 7 days.

They confiscated Church lands and ordered the removal of religious statues, crosses, and any other religious symbols. They attempted to institute new state-sponsored religions, such as the "Cult of Reason" (and when that didn't work so well, a generic "Cult of the Supreme Being"). The revolutionary government required all clergy to swear an oath acknowledging supremacy of the State over the Church in all matters, including doctrine. Failure to do so was punishable by death.

Though the radical policies were modified in 1905, there is still a strict policy of "laïcité", where religious influence is, as a matter of law, supposed to not influence itself in matters of State at all.

Another French Revolution? God help us all.

People are idiots and really think the French Revolution was about “egalite liberte” and all that. It was really about satan loose in France and killing the Catholics they could
