I can name, offhand, three groups of Lutherans that reject affiliation with the LWFederation.

Who know the Thirty Years War was still going on?

Seriously though, if the Pope is really looking to increase religious peace, he might want to focus on another unnamed religion that has problems getting along with every other religion on the planet.

Is the Pope then going to correct the errors of the Roman church? Oh, wait, this is the LWF he’s dealing with. They don’t care.

If the Lutherans just patch those nail holes in the door we'll forget it ever happened.

Francis quoted the Blessed John Paul II’s question: “How can we proclaim the Gospel of reconciliation without at the same time being committed to working for reconciliation between Christians?” (Ut Unum Sint, 98).

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

— John 13:34-35

Two Points, Luther had 99:
  1. "Sola Fide" is not Latin for "family feud".
  2. Any reformer that may ever have defenestrated a big "C" Catholic has long passed away and is incapable of forgiving or being forgiven. Likewise reformers burned at the stake, peasants annihilated in the 100 years war, "heretics" of all stripe suffering "inquiry" etc...

Be careful. This Pope is off on some strange tangents. I wonder what he’ll say today.

Lutheran World Federation, of which the liberal Evangelical Church US is a member.

Not the LCMS or the WELS. The ELCA.

Just sayin’.
