2 Corinthians 9



6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:

12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. 15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Abba, Father,
Teach Us to Teach Our Children

Keep us from being Selfish, "Entitled" and Jealous of Others,
So that we will be a Good Example for them.
Let Our Children be Surrounded With Love,
And Let that Love be a Shield Against the enemy of their souls..

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

To paraphrase Ayn Rand, "I don't expect anyone to owe me my living, and don't expect to owe anyone else THEIR living." Contrary to what most students of Objectivity may think, this is not in conflict with today's Bible reading about Generosity. Neither St. Paul, Nor Jesus of Nazareth, EVER advocated that HUMAN GOVERNMENT could be allowed to force people to be altruistic.
As a matter of fact, Paul tells us in another Passage that "Love, Joy, Peace, Faith, Patience, Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and Self-Control" are all "Fruits" of the Indwelling Holy Spirit.
Many of us make the error of expecting the secular world to behave like believers, and then we are frustrated and disappointed when they don't! This leads to anger and self-righteousness, and does not glorify God.

The best way to raise "Civilized" Human Beings is to adhere to Biblical Principles and surround them with Love and Loving Discipline. This is a guiding Principle in BOTH the Old and New Testaments, and is a bedrock of the Judeo-Christian Family Ethic. The Current situation of "Feral Youths" is a Perfect Example of the breakdown of Fatherhood and Family, and a sense of Entitlement which is nourished by the Welfare State. But by leaving Out the Crucial Component of "Raising Children in the Admonition of the Lord", "Objectivism" fails. Just My Humble Opinion..I LOVE Ayn's writing, as do many FReepers. And here is an interesting point. When I was in dire need, I was helped MOST by my FReeper FRiends, MANY of whom are Ayn Rand Fans...so go figure!
