Fox News columnist rips Pope Francis, loses Catholic News Service gig
Adam Shaw, an editor for the Fox News website, has been taking a lot of heat, even from some conservatives, for a rip-roaring assessment of the popes recent apostolic exhortation. His column is titled: Pope Francis is the Catholic Churchs Obama God help us, which gives you a sense of where Shaw was coming from.
But if Shaws Fox job is safe hey, when Rush Limbaugh is blasting the pontiff anyone else looks tame his other gig, as a film and video game reviewer for Catholic News Service, is over as of yesterday.
Tony Spence, editor in chief of the wire service, which operates under the aegis of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said he had been very pleased with Shaws work, which included an analysis of the comics book industry. Spence said he knew that Shaw worked for Fox but it never caused a conflict until this week. Spence wrote in an email:
(W)hen he penned the recent piece on Pope Francis, comparing him to President Obama, and presenting it as an op/ed, he seriously compromised his credibility as an objective Catholic journalist for CNS. Had Adam merely reported on the popes apostolic exhortation, even citing unflattering sources, there would have been no problem. However, Adams caustic condemnation of the exhortation and of Francis himself, one of the key figures we cover daily with objectivity, fairness and certainly charity, left me little choice but to end his service with us.
Spence wished Shaw well at FoxNews.com and in all his future endeavors.
Given that many of you do not belong to the Catholic Church, and others are not believers, I give this blessing from my heart, in silence, to each one of you, respecting the conscience of each one of you, but knowing that each one of you is a child of God, Pope Francis”
Wrong? Once again, please enlighten me. Exactly what the Pope say that is wrong here?
Tobin's comments stand in contrast to those of Pope Francis, who in a telegram to South African President Jacob Zuma last week praised Mandela's steadfast commitment to "promoting the human dignity of all (his) nation's citizens."
Yes
Please enlighten me.
I've been trying to, mightily.
Tobin is the hypocrite bishop who admitted a few months ago he has voted for liberal, pro-abortion democrats for the last 40 years, but all the sudden has a “change of heart” and admitted the errors of his ways.
Every word Francis has said has been fact. You’re just a anti-Catholic that loves to spout off about Catholics and anything Catholic. The Pope never condoned homosexual behavior and said if they are living their life for God who is he to judge them. So once again, what did he say wrong?
Translation: Living your life according to God’s plan is not having homosexual sex.
Right. So in doing so, he is correct on Mandela, unlike Pope Francis who is sending an envoy to the baby-killer, communist’s funeral. Something you been complaining about others, e.g. Fox News and US presidents, for the last few days. A Catholic should know better, especially a Pope.
Let’s pray that Pope Francis also has a change of heart and admits the errors of his ways.
That's not true. I am a Catholic and you should retract your false statement which is also an ad hominem.
You must have me confused for somebody else, real or imaginary, I do not know. Please indicate a post where I've said otherwise to your above statement.
>>YUCK, YUCK. YUCK.<<
Classy!
If you have problems with Bishop Tobin’s recent “conversion/ change of heart”, what are your opinions of the good thief on the cross, of the Roman centurion at the foot of the Cross or of St. Paul?
The thief on the cross had an instant conversion. He asked for God’s forgiveness and he was forgiven. Tobin went for 40 years, preaching the evils of abortion, all while he was voting for pro-abortion candidates. Tobin knew abortion was wrong, he knew sodomite “marriage” was wrong, but was a willing accomplish to all these evils. He should not be a priest, and certainly has lost all morale authority to be a bishop of the Church.
“RI bishop: Mandela support for abortion ‘shameful’ “
Can you say hypocrite????????????????????????????????
“I am a Catholic and you should retract your false statement which is also an ad hominem”
Then you need to start acting like one. If you can’t support Pope Francis, you need to pray for him, not put him down. No devout Catholic Catholic would treat their pope in the manner some do on on FR. The Episcopal “Church” I heard is looking for new members.
>>The Episcopal Church I heard is looking for new members.<<
How did you hear that? Do you worship in that church?
>>No devout Catholic Catholic would treat their pope in the manner some do on on FR.<<
And I don’t think any devout Catholic would say this,” “Journalists sometimes risk becoming ill from coprophilia and thus fomenting coprophagia.”
Guess who?
Great quote from a great man.

Journalists sometimes risk becoming ill from coprophilia and thus fomenting coprophagia: which is a sin that taints all men and women, that is, the tendency to focus on the negative rather than the positive aspects, said Jorge Mario Bergoglio in an interview with Vatican Insider last month, before becoming the new pope.
Maybe the press would become less vulnerable to the charge of peddling in shit if they were better versed in Latin.
To suggest that journalists and the public harbor an unhealthy fascination with dirt is not unreasonable. No doubt many of the things that gain the most media attention would better be ignored, but the problem is less general than simply an excessive focus on the negative. More often, it involves focusing on the negative for the wrong reasons, resulting in excessive attention on trivia while overlooking matters of enduring significance.

Sick quote from a sick Jesuit mind.
