Thank you, narses! It’s snowing here tonight, and we are going to be spending time with friends, some of whom are Catholic, and some who are not. This is a wonderful season to reach out to old friends and perhaps to estranged family. A Merry Christmas to all.

And there is more that is difficult to recognize, narses, when we get on the slippery slope of accepting sex with no procreative potential.

One point that many, metmom included, will recoil at is this: arguing for sex that lacks procreative potential has supported the rise of the homosexual movement and CONTINUES to support it.

A Parish Priest of my acquaintance makes that same, exact point Padre. You are both right.

Either we are all about ourselves, or we include God AND our spouse in the act.

Behold a virgin shall be with child, and bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. And Joseph rising up from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took unto him his wife. And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Merry Christmas to all.

Especially when surveys consistently show that 85%-95% of Roman Catholics USE contraception even when their church's rules don't approve of it. Could this disconnect possibly be related to the contradiction we are trying to point out here - one that keeps on being sidetracked?

There is no contradiction with NFP. The procreative potential remains.

And lest you miss the point about NFP: it is about not using artificial means; it is not about preventing the procreative urge if it strikes. That remains within the realm of what moves that married couple.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

She became the Mother of God, in which work so many and such great good things are bestowed on her as pass man’s understanding. For on this there follows all honor, all blessedness, and her unique place in the whole of mankind, among which she has no equal, namely, that she had a child by the Father in heaven, and such a Child . . . Hence men have crowded all her glory into a single word, calling her the Mother of God . . . None can say of her nor announce to her greater things, even though he had as many tongues as the earth possesses flowers and blades of grass: the sky, stars; and the sea, grains of sand. It needs to be pondered in the heart what it means to be the Mother of God.

(Commentary on the Magnificat, 1521; in Luther’s Works, Pelikan et al, vol. 21, 326)

Yes, I do realize that and I have the links to the anathemas.

Condoms enable extramarital sexual relations in ways that NFP simply doesn’t.

Huge difference right there.

Yet you dare not look at the hypocrisy within Protestant and other non-Catholic churches?

Just because everyone else is doing it is it OK for you too also?

Who ever said I don't point out hypocrisy in non-Catholic churches?

Do you realize that the only threads I've posted on the RF were ones condemning excesses in non-Catholic churches. I've never posted a one criticizing the Catholic church.

Here, go check for yourself.

Now, about the accuracy of that comment, perhaps you ought to learn what you're talking about before wasting electrons.

Study them. It will do your soul great good, if you are open to His Word.

Yes. But too the sex obsessed heretics, it means nothing.

Was it Catholics or Protestants that thought it was important to post threads about contraception?
