This is the simple truth. Whether people want to believe it or not.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I’ve been absent a lot from FR, just popped in yesterday after a long time. Just my “real” life is sort of overwhelming. No tragedies or anything, just busier and more chaotic than usual, I guess.

Mine is just that as well. Amazing the bounty that He presents us with!

The concept of sex as only a no-consequences recreational activity available to anyone as a “right” was the beginning of the end for marriage, not sodomite “marriage.”

The influence of the Catholic Church on US politics has waned since the 1960s. Heck, they couldn’t even stop Gay Marriage in Portugal.

Please provide proof for this statement.

I'd be glad to.

To an atheist:Proselytism is solemn nonsense, it makes no sense. ...Each of us has a vision of good and of evil. We have to encourage people to move towards what they think is Good. ....And I repeat it here. Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them. That would be enough to make the world a better place.

Towards the Jews:We hold the Jewish people in special regard because their covenant with God has never been revoked, for ‘the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable’ .

The Pope gives false hope of salvation to false religions, but he does chose to denigrate traditional Catholics as being sour-pussed, old maid, Pelagian rosary counters.

I believe your interpretation of his words is flawed and I certainly have not heard or read that he “denigrates traditional Catholics as being sour-pussed, old-maid, Pelagian rosary counters.”

I wonder why you are making this judgment. He has never done that and I wonder, especially in view of the fact that Pope Francis has openly expressed his devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and dedicated his papacy to her. As a person who has been devoted to the message of Fatima and to the rosary ever since my conversion to the Catholic church in 1949, I don’t agree with what you say.

I have close familial connections in Argentina and with clergy there. Some of the things being written about Pope Francis (on internet) here are unbelievably inaccurate.

On this forum I have read posts calling Pope Francis the Anti-Christ, a “nitwit”, a Marxist, a socialist...and that’s only for starters. And these are being written by some who consider themselves Catholic.

I find myself wondering how Our Lord looks upon these kinds of accusations...accusations made in the anonymous world of internet, but known fully and openly to the eyes of God the Father.

I find that I can’t respect this attitude. I also wonder if such words would be spoken to Pope Francis openly to his face.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.

I get so tired of the misinterpretations of Pope Francis. (Especially when the posters are Catholics and are posting from a lamestream media source to prove their own individual mistaken biases.

If people would only be patient as the second reading for Sunday from St. James admonishes.

God bless.

I didn’t interpret his words; I quoted his words. They were posted on the Vatican website.

Please offer an explanation for your attribution of Pope Francis “denigrating traditional Catholics”...

He has not done that.

What is a “traditional” Catholic?

I am a Latin Rite (Roman) Catholic. I have friends who are Maronite Catholics and friends who are Chaldean Catholics and a friend who is a Melkite Catholic.

Some of my extended family members attend the Byzantine Rite.

We are all Catholic.

All of us are “Marian” Catholics.

I am a lay Carmelite and have served for many years in the Legion of Mary.

I do not choose to make unfounded accusations about our Holy Father.

Words of wisdom which you would do well to ponder.

Everyone has his own idea of good and evil and must choose to follow the good and fight evil as he conceives them.

If you think the above are "words of wisdom", do also believe that:

We'll all be drinkin' free bubble-up,

An' eatin' that rainbow stew.

None of my accusations have been “unfounded”. I have 2000 years of foundation.
