I haven’t found anyone before about 210AD asking a saint for intercession. Assuming they were born about 170AD or so, still doesn’t get them back to the apostolic era.
If I find anything, I’ll let you know.
I’ve asked that question of Roman Catholics here on FR for at least three years. They always answer with bluster that there are hundreds of sources. After asking to see them, they are from after 200 AD.
They stop answering my questions. I could name names, but it wouldn’t serve any purpose.
Bottom line is that Roman Catholics MUST agree with the doctrines of their church, no matter how unbiblical or unfounded they are. They are ultimately Sola Ecclesia. Free country.
If you ever see anything, I’d appreciate a heads up.
OK. If I see it, I’ll send it to you. I’ve got the old-fashioned book version of the ante and post Nicene fathers (about 11 volumes, iirc).
Wish I had a digital version instead. That would be fairly easy to word search. It’s possible with the online versions, but time consuming. They generally post them chapter by chapter, making them searchable only that same way.
I ran through them on the topic of premillennialism in the early Fathers and was rewarded. Will probably do the same now on prayer.
