Well, he's sure right about that one.

For one thing, it's not even humanly possible to talk about It's also necessary to talk about gay marriage and abortion all the time.

For another thing, it IS necessary to talk, at times, about the Father; the Son; the Holy Spirit; prayer; fasting; almsgiving; spiritual and corporal works of mercy; redemptive suffering; the Sacrament of Penance; the Gospels and Lessons of the daily Mass; the Lives of the Saints; repentance; conversions; salvation; humility; being poor in spirit; the Existence of God; the Creation and Fall; Divine Revelation; Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture; the Incarnation; the Paschal Mystery; the Mystical Body and Communion of Saints; The Four Marks of the Church; the Blessed Virgin Mary; the Four Last Things; the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass; Vocations; the Courage to Marry for Life; ...

Etc. etc. etc.

All topics which he has hit upon since last March.

Jesus didn't talk about Gay Marriage or Abortion even once! Though of course He talked about both Marriage and Celibacy; and St. Paul under the Lord's personal instruction via the Holy Spirit, covered quite a bit of that in detail.

Now if you know me, you know I'm ardently against Gay Marriage and Abortion, and I will compare my record of speaking out, writing and action on those subjects, to anybody else you'd care to name.

But I'd be less than honest if I failed to say that I agree with Pope Francis on this one. He puts these issues in a context which is wide and deep.

And I say, thank God for that.
