With the crowd estimated at 2,000 or more, Bulgarians took to the streets of the nation's second largest city to protest what they consider a Muslim attempt to "Islamicise" the Balkan country, as reported on Feb. 14, 2014 by The Sofia Globe (of Sofia, Bulgaria), the Anadolu News Agency (of Ankara, Turkey) and the Bulgarian internet news portal PlovdivUtre.bg.
Seeking a court order to take possession of properties previously owned by Muslims during the rule of the former Ottoman Empire, who were finally expelled in 1878 after 500 years of oppression, the current Grant Mufti of Bulgaria's small Muslim minority has been filing legal applications under the country’s Religious Denominations Act.

Most of the Turkish population of Bulgaria were driven out after the Warsaw Pact broke up. I don’t think there are many Muslims left there now.
If the EU falls apart, maybe Bulgaria might take the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Angola, and outlaw Islam in its entirety.

The Bulgarians, mostly Eastern Orthodox, are strong people.
They will not let the Muzies roll over them. There are about 500,000 Muzies, mostly Turkish, out of 8 million total.
Unfortunately, the overall population is shrinking.
If anyone gets to Bulgaria, visit the Rila monastery, about 100 km south of Sofia. It is one of the more notable monasteries in central/east Europe. I was there about eight years ago.

The Archbishop from our church was a priest during WWII in the Rila monastery and hid thousands of Jews from the Nazis. When communism took over Bulgaria, he managed to escape to Switzerland, then make his way to the US.

I made only one visit to Bulgaria while living in Slovakia.
I went to visit an online girl acquaintance. It was her idea that we drive to Rila. I was very glad that we went.
