Survey: Majority of Americans, Including Catholics, Support Same-Sex Marriage
Catholic Culture ^ | 2/27/14

53% of Americans-- including 58% of white Catholics and 56% of Latino Catholics-- now support same-sex marriage, according to a survey conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute.

In 2003, Americans opposed same-sex marriage by a 59%-32% margin.

“Roughly three-quarters (73%) of Catholics believe that most of their fellow congregants are opposed to same-sex marriage,” the survey continued. “However, Catholics who regularly attend church are in fact divided on the issue (50% favor, 45% oppose).”

“Majorities of Americans perceive three religious groups to be unfriendly to LGBT people: the Catholic Church (58%), the Mormon church (53%), and evangelical Christian churches (51%),” the survey added. “At least two-thirds of LGBT Americans perceive both the Catholic Church (73%) and evangelical Christian churches (67%) as being unfriendly toward LGBT people.”

There is no mention because this is all a lie. Cyber PSYOPS! Either this is a false story or was written about a false story someone bought into. The Homos are always busy, because they don’t have to raise children. Use common sense...this is a LIE!

These would be the same "Catholics" who practice birth control.

:shaking my head:

The churches should be in open political rebellion about this!

AND about abortion,

Church members should be reminded EVERY SUNDAY that the DemonRAT party openly supports both abortion and sodomy, both ABOMINATIONS before the LORD, and that any church member who can give support to ANY party or ANY political candidate supporting these abominations should be honest with himself and his church and separate himself from the body, or be excomminicated upon discovery of his support of these abominations.

By the way, David Manning of Atlah Ministries has no problem doing this, not only every Sunday, but every time he speaks.

I personally do not know any Catholics who support this.

I don’t believe it. Propaganda! The Marriage Amendment passed in VA with 57% of the vote (affirming traditional marriage).

I’m sorry to hear that. My Pastor is very vocal in his homilies about both topics. He never shies away from defending either marriage or abortion.

“The war is over, folks. The percentage of “those in favor ..” is only going to rise and same sex “marriage” will soon spread through the country like a wildfire.”

That is about the size of it. We just have to get afair share of the media. About the only conservative goals we succeed on is getting tax cuts and keeping same for the rich. These are the same people who own the media. Isn't it funny how the more we lower the taxes on these people the fewer conservatives their are amongst them? And the more feckless the remaining ones are. It seems that when it comes to corporations and country clubbers they are only conservative when it affects their wallet.

Nancy Pelosi calls herself a Catholic, and yet thinks abortion is “sacred”. Nancy Pelosi calls herself Catholic and yet is in favor of homosexual marriage.

I could call myself an Oak tree if I wanted but I'd be damned pressed to sprout leaves and drop acorns!

Acceptance of this perversion is not all they want - it will not be enough. These perverts will not stop until they have BANNED the Bible in the USA and not until they have enacted hate speech laws in the USA that will shut all the Ministers, Priests, and Rabbi up for good. They probably would like to see imprisonment of this "radical group" of clerics preaching "HATE".

Think I am way out in left field? Look to Germany, and don't tell me it can't happen in the good old USA. I could not believe we elected a dicktator for a second term either, but it happened whether legal or not.

Agreed. But I don’t care what they say. Morality ain’t determined by majority vote. God and God alone has that right, as they’ll discover to their profound sorrow.

The question is no longer “if” God will pour out His wrath on our depraved nation, but “how much.”

Who is the “Public Religion Research Institute”?

What questions did they ask in their survey, specifically?

I don’t believe these survey results.

Indeed, but if the Landlord wants an Oak Tree, he will cut down the weed tree and replace it with the real thing.

That’s what the churches should be doing, but they are not.

A bit of googling shows that this polling company is progressive/leftist. The results are therefore likely very skewed.

The founder of the Public Religion Research Institute is Robert P. Jones, who is “a scholar at the Center for American Progress” (a leftist think tank). See http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-p-jones-phd/ and http://www.amazon.com/Robert-P.-Jones/e/B001H6GKVE/ref=ntt_athr_dp_pel_pop_1 for more info ...

How many ‘Catholics” took part in the poll. How many were they non-practicing Catholics and how many were regular church goers. Have never heard of this outfit and don’t believe their conclusions. There is a mass move to bash Catholics.

This nation is sick and those who believe that same sex marriage is ok are even sicker than those who do such marriages.

Barely a peep about abortion or the destruction of marriage. There’s no leadership, so the flock is astray.

Our new parish priest is more concerned about people going into the chapel to pray after Communion. He thinks they should return to their pew.

Our chapel is in the church building, adjacent to the Narthex. It's not like they're leaving Mass without returning.

WHERE ARE THE SPIRITUAL LEADERS?

Hiding from the Gaystapo like the moral cowards they are. The only one I can remember being at least remotely courageous most recently is the late Jerry Falwell. No one apparently took up his mantle.

“those in favor ..”

At one time, those in favor advocated:
returning runaway slaves to their masters,
placing Japanese Americans in prison camps,
sending jews and gypsys and other undesirables to concentration/genocide camps.
Be very careful about supporting what “those in favor” choose, it could end up costing you your freedoms and your life.
