Guillotine, Gulag and Gas Chamber: The Glorious Gifts of Atheism to Humanity
The Imaginative Conservative ^ | Joseph Pearce

Imagine there’s no heaven It’s easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries It isn’t hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace…

- John Lennon (Imagine)

There are lies, damned lies, and neo-atheist polemics. One of the most egregious examples of such godless mendacity is the claim that religion has been the cause of most of the wars that have blighted humanity throughout its blood-stained history. In a world with “no religion”, so the argument runs, there would be “nothing to kill or die for”. Such nonsense is only believable if we remain willfully ignorant of the lessons of history.

Most wars are fought over Real Estate.

A wise man once observed that while belief in God after the Holocaust may be difficult, belief in man after the Holocaust is impossible.

The dude should have checked before he published. He mentions the French guys wife’s church desecration stint as “in 1893”, then references him being guillotined in 1794.

For the knowledgeable, an error like that is quickly mentally reconciled and is trivial, but for the opposition, they latch onto simple errors like this and utilize them to discredit the entire thesis with regularity...

“nothing to kill or die for” - so murder is wrong? Wonder where they got that idea...

I urge anyone who visits Europe to also visit Auschwitz. It encompasses the entire title of this article.

The Spanish Civil War was a fight of godless atheism vs. Christianity (i.e. Catholicism). That is why Gen. Franco seized power - to thwart the blood lust crazies in the communist/atheist revolutionaries who were entering monasteries and murdering the nuns and brothers and priests. Of course liberals continue to make Franco out to be a terrible person, and conveniently leave out the reason why Franco came to power in the first place. Deaths of nuns and priests are of no matter to atheists.

the French Revolution, which sought to dethrone God with godless “Reason”

Atheism is not the same thing as reason.Secular humanist atheistic theology is based on the denial of God and the supernatural. The faculty of reason is part of God-given human nature and is not godless. It is man's means of survival, his means of knowledge, which is necessary for survival, and his means of objective morality.

The process of reason identifies what is perceived and then evaluates it.It is responsible for understanding, learning, and acquiring knowledge. It is the faculty that is responsible for the process of cognition which produces both concepts and conclusions, which are forms of knowledge. It also includes the creative faculty which produces breakthroughs, discoveries, and new knowledge.

In spite of John Lennon’s belief he was going to lure everyone to atheism he was instead extinguished by death.

He is gone permanently. Not even a famous atheist can protect from extinction his own life, or bring himself back.

The most murderous ideology/worldview the world has ever known is socialism, once it acquires the power of life and death. Their “utopia” is built on mass graves.

I have never heard this quote. Thanks.
