Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Trees of The Bible

Ezekiel 27

A Lament for Tyre

…5"They have made all your planks of fir trees from Senir; They have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you. 6"Of oaks from Bashan they have made your oars; With ivory they have inlaid your deck of boxwood from the coastlands of Cyprus. 7"Your sail was of fine embroidered linen from Egypt So that it became your distinguishing mark; Your awning was blue and purple from the coastlands of Elishah.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

We don't often think of the People of the Bible as being Seafaring People. Yet, The Mediterranean was a Major Thoroughfare for Trade and Migration. The Ships were very Seaworthy, and some fragments have been found that validate this Biblical Account. Paul used the major sea routes to spread the Gospel, and Jonah tried to use the Sea to ESCAPE his Commission. The Cedars, Oaks, and Acacia Trees provided excellent wood for this use.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our beloved Nation.

When talking about seafaring people, these verses from Psalm 107 come to mind:

23
Some went out on the sea in ships;
they were merchants on the mighty waters.

24
They saw the works of the Lord,
his wonderful deeds in the deep.

25
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest
that lifted high the waves.

26
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.

27
They reeled and staggered like drunkards;
they were at their wits’ end.

28
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.

29
He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed.

30
They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.

31
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind.

Lifting up Israel and all of God’s people on the tumultuous seas, literally or figuratively. May we call out to the Lord in our troubles and see His marvelous works!
