The Silencing of Sister Jane

Sister Jane Dominic Laurel was tossed under the bus so frequently last week that I hope she will be able to get the tread marks out of her habit. A vibrant teacher of Catholic orthodoxy on sexual morality based on Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, she had given lectures around the country with no controversy until she gave a presentation at the hilariously misnamed Catholic High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and some parents and their spoiled brats decided to stage a massive hissy fit.

The diocese of Charlotte wasted no time in cowardly apologizing for the presentation of Sister Jane. Go here to read all about it.

Now, her own order and Aquinas College are sending her under the bus:

From Sister Mary Sarah, O.P., President of Aquinas College:

The events around the recent talk by Sister Jane Dominic Laurel, O.P. in Charlotte, NC have produced a great deal of speculation from many sides. Among the commentators, there are few who were actually present to hear the talk, which was not recorded.

At the risk of being facetious, are you sure that you shouldn’t change the spacing of your name to I M Pimp?

This seems to be the presentation that she gives:

I've been listening to a few of the presentations at the link (thank you), and it appears that the one that is "offensive" is Masculinity & Femininity: Difference & Gift Part IV where she talks about the controversy in question.

If this was the same talk she gave at the school in question, then it is patently obvious that these folks need to get a life. There was absolutely nothing controversial in that particular talk.

It's not the more conservative parents, students, or teachers at that high school that were complaining. Did you read their statement? (Found in other articles online: author of anti-Sr. Jane statement was Emma Winters). These are people who demand that the homosexual condition is to be affirmed and embraced, that active homosexual conduct is a human right, that the Church ought not to teach against homosexual behavior, contraception, divorce, abortion, or any aspect of the spiritual and social disintegration surrounding sexual immorality.

So your hypothesis is incorrect in the light of the arguments made by the anti-Sister-Jane petition (which you can still google, I think, using the search words "Emma Winters" and "Charlotte Catholic High School").

I found it.

Go to American Catholic website and write in: "Tell it like it is Sister Jane."

Along with the article You'll see the video presented by Sister Jane. It's on Vimeo so you'll have to go to that site.

Enjoy!

This is nothing new. Jesus said it would happen - even in His own church.

We are getting to the point where Jeremiah was just before Jerusalem’s fall (ref. Jeremiah Ch 36) - where the king burned the God-breathed scroll of Jeremiah’s words - as each piece was read to him he would cut it out and throw it in the fire. Our current “king” symbolically burns God’s words every time he opens his arugula hole.

I understand it is those on the left who were offended. My point is that people on the right can be offended too, as the “latency period”, which serves to delay when sex topics should be introduced, was violated by the sister.

Sister can say whatever she wants.

So can the idiot parents and administrators and progressive Pollyannas who are students at the school.

God will separate the wheat from the chaff.
