More than 4 million Latinos in the United States have left the Catholic Church since 2010, according to a new Pew Research Center survey that spotlighted the church’s ongoing exodus of Latinos, a group seen as pivotal to the future of Catholicism.

In 2010, two-thirds of Hispanics (67 percent) in the U.S. were Catholic. Today, that number has dwindled to 55 percent of the nation's 35 million Latino adults. While close to 20 million Latinos still identify as Catholic, the church has lost 12 percent, or 4 million Latinos in the U.S. over the past four years alone, according to the Pew study released Wednesday.

At the same time, the share of Hispanic evangelicals rose from 12 percent to 16 percent, while Latinos with no religious affiliation increased from 10 percent to 18 percent.

The new survey confirms a concerning worldwide trend for the Catholic Church, which has been losing followers for years, and is the latest indication the church is particularly losing followers among its strongest base, Latinos in the U.S. and in Latin America....

Catholics have always voted democrat, with a very few exceptions, and very few “Mexicans” vote in American elections, since Mexicans are citizens of Mexico.

I sure am learning a lot about the racism within the Catholic denomination, from these threads.

.... Catholics still account for just under a quarter of the population, as they have for many years. That's because the surge in Hispanic immigration has offset the steady decline of white Catholics. Roughly 2 in 3 Latino immigrants are Catholic, according to Luis Lugo, director of the Pew Forum. He also notes that Hispanic fertility rates are higher than those of white Americans, ensuring more Latino Catholic growth in the United States.
.... from the thread Does the American Catholic Church Have a Numbers Problem?
Catholics are leaving the faith at four times the rate that newcomers are joining. "Religious change is not simply a function of retention; it's a function of recruitment. It's both sides of the ledger," explains the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life's Greg Smith. "In no other religious groups we looked at did we see this high a ratio people leaving versus joining."
.... from the thread Does the American Catholic Church Have a Numbers Problem?
No other religion in the United States has lost more members to other faiths, or to no faith at all, than Catholicism, according to the new survey released by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The survey, conducted in 2007, found that 31 percent of Americans were raised Catholic, but less than 25 per cent of them still identify as Catholic. Roughly 10 percent of all Americans have strayed from Catholic roots, the study reported.....
....“It’s our mission to evangelize and we are failing that,” said [The Rev. Allan Figueroa Deck, S.J., executive director of cultural diversity for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops], explaining that the term ‘evangelize’ includes the “conversion of the human heart and the promotion of social justice.”
.... from the thread Study: Catholics losing the faith
One out of every 10 evangelicals is a former Catholic....with Hispanic Catholics leaving at higher rates; 20 percent of them end up in evangelical or Pentecostal churches.

“Also, very few Mexicans vote in American elections, since only citizens can vote”

Are you that naive? How in the world do you think the Kenyan was reelected? Why do you think there is an all-out front assault to tear the borders down so as many illegals can get into the country that want to come in? For one reason and one reason only. They vote for the democrats. Why do you think democrats are so adamant about not making anyone show an ID before they vote? Lord, I can’t believe you actually think that illegals don’t vote.

“If you care about conservative politics, how can you make such a strange mistake about the voters we need”.

The republican party does not need freeloaders to win elections. They need conservatives to come out and vote for them. Nominating closet democrats like McCain and Romney will never win the White House for republicans. The democrat party is the party of freeloaders and welfare bums and that want the government to take care of them from cradle to grave.

I can honestly say that I did not know that 5 million Mexican citizens illegally voted in the 2012 election for Obama, and made him president.

Thanks for your valuable input.

The mexican “catholics” that voted for him think he’s pro-life and for real marriage. They have no clue what this character is really about. They know free stuff. That’s all that matters to them.

If dunce Romney had picked Marco Rubio as his running mate he would have carried the “catholic vote” and would be sitting in the White House.
