I renounced Islam, so my family think I should die
The Telegraph ^ | 05/25/2014 | Harriet Alexander

Apostasy is not just something that scandalises people in far off lands. Harriet Alexander hears the story of a British woman whose life was turned upside down when she left Islam - echoing the plight of Meriam Ibrahim, who awaits a death sentence in Sudan for the same "crime"

If Amal Farah were not living in Britain, she believes she might well be dead.

For the 33-year-old financial manager had carried out an act so heinous, her family felt she deserved to die.

Her crime? She had renounced her Islamic faith – “and within my community, that’s a capital offence,” she said. “They believe you deserve to die.”

Mrs Farah, who was born in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, but now lives in Britain, has never told her story before.

She was too afraid; told that, even in the UK, it was safer for her to keep a low profile.

Totalitarians and leftists (I repeat myself) seem to love islam and hate Christianity. It seems to me to be part of their affinity for evil.

A pretty lady (and she married a Jewish lawyer). It’s a pity she’s an atheist, but at least she saw the light with Islam: http://www.frontpagemag.com/2014/dgreenfield/muslim-atheists-in-uk-fear-for-their-lives/

The fact that leaving her faith is regarded as a capital offence is, in itself, a very good reason for leaving it.

If the U.N. actually had a spine and some ethics it would declare that state punishment of apostates as a human rights violation...

But yeah, it doesn’t...

Think of the recent article about how “Global Warming Denialists” should be executed....

Both leftists and Islamists treat apostates with the same punishment.... Death...

I hope her faith in Britain is not misplaced.

Islam would never kill someone who denounce Islam. Why would they, don't you think Islam a peaceful religion? They would never kill anyone...they want to be loved...

Do I need to put a /s on this?

My husband and I (100% pure bred Americans) lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for five years working for ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company). [We made a TON of money.]

I have NEVER heard of successful marriages between Saudi men and American women. Eventually they fall apart, whether she converts or not. It just wasn't meant to be, I guess.

PLEASE don't tell me about At the Drop of a Veil. Been there; done that; bought the t-shirt. THEIR marriage ended too.
