Gay Danish Couples Win Right to Marry in Church [Church compliance "mandatory"]
The Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 6/7/14 | Richard Orange

Homosexual couples in Denmark have won the right to get married in any church they choose, even though nearly one third of the country's priests have said they will refuse to carry out the ceremonies.

The country's parliament voted through the new law on same-sex marriage by a large majority, making it mandatory for all churches to conduct gay marriages.

Denmark's church minister, Manu Sareen, called the vote "historic".

"I think it's very important to give all members of the church the possibility to get married. Today, it's only heterosexual couples."

Under the law, individual priests can refuse to carry out the ceremony, but the local bishop must arrange a replacement for their church.

The far-Right Danish People's Party mounted a strong campaign against the new law, which nonetheless passed with the support of 85 of the country's 111 MPs.

"Marriage is as old as man himself, and you can't change something as fundamental," the party's church spokesperson Christian Langballe said during the debate. "Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman."

How is sin Luther’s fault?

I mean really, what did the Church ever do to him? ;-)

I'm referring to churches themselves, if they were ever pointedly directed to perform homo "weddings."

Most evangelical "churches" I know of would just try to find a way to make this a "welcoming" experience.

The apostasy of the churches is exactly why the demonic culture is overrunning all quarters.

Knowing the socialist nature of Denmark, I wouldn’t be surprised if all churches must register with the government, thus making them subject to the government’s edicts.

It’s just a little early in the morning to read the words ‘gay Danish’; a solid reminder of what NOT to have for breakfast.

This was predictable, and predicted, as far back as the ‘60s

According to the CIA Factbook:

Religions:

Evangelical Lutheran (official) 80%, Muslim 4%, other (denominations of less than 1% each, includes Roman Catholic, Jehovah’s Witness, Serbian Orthodox Christian, Jewish, Baptist, and Buddhist) 16% (2012 est.)

I wonder if their law requires that mosques must also marry homosexual couples? I would get quite a laugh if the law was challenged on those grounds.

If they have a similar system to Germany’s, then the churches are also funded with tax money. This won’t bother the European Lutherans, but the Catholics will have real issues.

“....Denmark, unlike the United States, has a government-run Lutheran Church....”

.
Is it also guided by a government-run theology?

Hmm, I wonder what Luther would think of it — after all, he did object the way the Catholic Church handled its affairs.

Aren’t people glad if you’re church isn’t a government-run church like in Denmark?

Yes they are having a hard time getting around the first amendment, but what makes it so sad and hard to believe is that the first amendment is now trying to protect the church from having to harbor sodomites, a crime so heinous that God once destroyed two towns with burning sulfur.

The overwhelming majority (over 75%) of Danes are members of the Church of Denmark which is Lutheran. The Church of Denmark is fully behind the homosexual agenda and same-sex marriages.

The Catholic population in Denmark is VERY SMALL (less than 1%) and a lot of them are from Poland. Hopefully the Catholic bishops there will refuse further tax money and rely on their congregants for funds.

I think they’re allowed to reject the funds, but I’m not sure. I’m also not sure if it would make a difference, since the entire premise of such a system is that church and state are not separate. We have a unique system in America in comparison to Europe. We rejected intentionally what they have.
