Unfortunately, when they say nun, they mean NONE.

She will just be a different kind of mother than most.

Yes, you are right.

Recently, one of my four sisters was visiting. One of our conversations fell to reminiscing about our Catholic School education in the 1950s and 1960s. The sisters who taught us were so dedicated, so caring.

I pray we will see a huge influx soon to the religious life.

A difficult choice, but worthwhile in the long run.

In the US, from google articles:
Rev. Mother Dolores Hart (born October 20, 1938) is an American Roman Catholic nun and former actress.

Also: from the June Haver bio:
Hollywood actress who briefly became a nun has died

Actress June Haver, the blonde star of several popular 20th Century Fox musicals such as Irish Eyes Are Smiling (1944), The Dolly Sisters (1945), and Three Little Girls in Blue (1946), and the widow of actor Fred MacMurray, died of respiratory failure in the Los Angeles suburb of Brentwood on July 4. Haver was 79.

It happens.
43 years ago, in Vietnam, we were driving up a mountain road in Vung Tau. There was a group of 5 or 6 pretty young Vietnamese women with long flowing hair, walking up the mountain too. We stopped to ask if they needed a ride. We took them to the Buddhist Center half way up the mountain. The next week, on the way down, we saw the same groug of young ladies again and gave them rides to the bottom of the mountain. This time they all had shaved heads and were wearing yellow robes.

a damn shame such a beautiful body will be retired
why must there be celibacy attached to working with the Church, that makes no sense to me
We should all enjoy God’s gift with those who we love in life

Her body is, apparently, a distraction. When one gives one's life to Christ celibacy vows help to remind those vow-takers of their CHOICE.

I once read a blog from the wives of vicars and ministers. THEY said of their husbands and his "flock" that there just isn't time enough in life to be a good FULL-TIME shepherd and a good FULL-TIME husband and dad.

Sister Mary Ooh-la-la?

==============================================

Lol.
In another 20 years she will be someone else.
Pick one.

Sister Wrinkles

Sister Saggy Butt

Sister Saggy Tits

Sister Constipated

Sister Gray Hair

Sister Jowls

Sister Crow's Feet (No, not a Sioux name)

Sister Yellow Teeth (No, not an Apache name)

Sister Ugly Shoes

Sister Know-It-All

=========================================

These things do happen to the most beautiful/handsome of the "BEATUTIFUL" people.

Heeheehee. I had such fun doing this. Thank your for your remark.

However, if nuns can now win the Italian "the Voice"...

She's a sister, not a nun. There is a difference.

There isn't. All men and women are called to work with the Church, according to their particular role.

For some, that is in a life of celibacy. For most, it is not. Even in many formal roles (permanent deacon, oblates, tertiaries, etc.), celibacy is not required.

I hope her vocation brings her tremendous joy and brings blessings to many others. We saw Mother Dolores Hart here last year. She’s getting a little vague, but she just glowed with love and happiness. One of my friends waited in line to get her book signed, and she said she just wanted to stand there by Mother Dolores the rest of the day, feeling the love!

It’s interesting how average Miss Oliveros looks in her habit, wearing her glasses ... except for her enormous smile with those perfect white teeth, and her height. The camera doesn’t show the reality of models and actresses. It’s deception-by-optics (and digital editing).

People work for Christ in the Catholic Church who are married, and who are single but not under religious vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The vast majority of people who work in Catholic parishes and schools are not under religious vows.

So, no, you don't have to be celibate. It depends on what your calling is.

This woman, Olalla Oliveros, says she has a vocation (calling) to celibacy. You wouldn't want to deny her that choice, would you?
