I do not think it is so much as wanting to have a “neutral” model from the burbs, but I sense a FEAR on the part of Cardinal Dolan because of “pressure coming from the outside, ether from the NYC Mayor’s office or from devolopment speculators. Just my guess.

There's nothing wrong with Dolan once you realize he's a democrat politician, not a Catholic Cardinal.

Everything falls in place once you get that fundamental fact right.

From that perspective, it's a good bet site the Church to be closed is on has a higher market value than the site the "Making All Things New" combined parishes will use. If not, then the case will be made that the target needs "major repairs" in order to meet current standards, etc.

Traditional democrat "renewal" at work with the traditional democrat approach of selecting "under performing assets" for such renewal. Urban renewal targeted the property of the black middle class who at the time were almost all Republicans, this renewal targets the properties used by traditionalists.

Democrat politics 101. See?

Once you shed the illusion that Dolan is something other than a democrat politician things fall in place. Accepting the disguise of such "shepherds" at face value is a major mistake as it leads to expectations that they'll behave like shepherds, expectations that are never met which in turn leads to demoralization.

I couldn’t stand the back-slapping, over-the-top, Fatty Arbuckle Dolan from the minute I first heard him talk about the faith. He can’t seem to get serious about anything, always talking about eating and going to baseball games, to be taken seriously as a Catholic bishop, much less a Cardinal. I just think he’s a disgrace. Can you imagine a reverent Catholic like Cardinal Burke as the archbishop of NY, instead of this clown Dolan?

I sense greed on Cdl Dolan’s part - as far as the speculators go - and no fear at all of De Blasio, who he is frequently pictured hugging. Dolan does nothing to defend Catholic positions and is an outsider trying to destroy the tough native Church that exists in NYC.

Cdl Burke as Archbishop of New York? Now that would be a dream come true.

I grew up in NYC, lived there most of my life and still go back fairly often. New Yorkers are very devout by nature and if the right person were appointed, you’d see a rebirth of Catholicism that would probably rival Renaissance Rome.
