I end this debate with this:
“Ephesians 6:10-18New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our[a] struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. 15 As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. 16 With all of these,[b] take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.”
This debate is done. Time to move on.
4 responses to one post is a sign of a weak argument.
Debates do not end by saying so but by one side simply retiring.
But I did like your biblical citation because it makes it very clear that combating heresy by shedding blood is itself heresy to the plain word of God:
Eph. 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our[a] struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh....
“probably the first church buildings ever.....”
No, there were church buildings more than a century before that.
“Key supporting elements of a major church building came from a pagan temple.”
Why pay for new stuff when you can repurpose old stuff showing the mastery of the new over the old. Isn’t that exactly why Muslims converted Hagia Sophia into a mosque?
The final question I ask is, why you make a big deal of this?
Let it go. You are not going to change my mind.
And PLEASE do not post to me again.
Yep, the Roman Pantheon: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon,_Rome
There’s one former temple converted into a Catholic church in Assisi too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_of_Minerva_(Assisi)
The former I believe dedicated to Mary and the saints.
Plus also the famous blue mosque building was inspired by Haga Sophia.
>The final question I ask is, why you make a big deal of this?
>And PLEASE do not post to me again.
That is contradictory.
And you made a big deal of something I said, not the other way around.
Then you attempt to deplore and excuse persecution by the church at the same time, which is incoherent and invites response.
>Let it go. You are not going to change my mind.
Which one?
Saw a bit of the video about the building of Haga Sophia, and its interesting history.
As of now, I am not feeding into one certain troll. Just ignore that troll.
