Baraq (with a qof) means "lightning." The triliteral root for "blessing" has a kaf, not a qof. Unlike qof, kaf becomes spirant at the end of a word or syllable.

And btw, "blessed" is a passive form, which is barukh, not "barak."

The Gospel was written in Greek, because it was the language of commerce back in that era.However, Jesus was speaking Aramaic.

When rendered in the original language the expression "lightening from heaven" sounds like this:

"Lightening" = "barack"
"heaven" could be "the high place" which would be rendered "Bamah or Bemah"
