We just had this lesson in Sunday School this morning.

“Think it not strange the firry trial that has come to test your faith…” i.e., to see what kind of faith you have - is it the kind of faith that “saves”, that endures to the end?

This isn’t a comprehensive lesson, but here are a few possibilities:

If you are suffering as an evil doer then suffering = God’s “reproof”

Suffering unjustly due to the sin in the world and the curse = God’s efforts to “improve” you, character development (no spoiled brats in heaven). Everything can’t always go your way and you become dependent on the Lord to fight your battles and to show grace and truth to others in your pain.

Suffering for godliness, i.e., being a Christian = God’s Approval as they say in AWANA - Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and more importantly, God is not ashamed to call them his own!

Did Yeshua not promise that we must suffer, and even be killed?

He certainly never indicated that life would be rosy.
