Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

When I first moved to Florida I was awakened every morning by a strange sound. It was like weeping and sobbing, and I was very concerned! After a little investigation, I discovered it was the call of a little grey dove, like the one pictured here. I don't know if the Florida Variety is the same as the one cited by Isaiah, but its cry is very mournful and sad.

This Passage from Isaiah records the dying prayer of King Hezekiah. It is very poetic and heartfelt. God honored this prayer with 15 more years of life for the good king.

This story teaches us to Pray without Ceasing, even when it seems there may be no hope left.

Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself hath done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
