Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

No visit to Israel would be complete without a tour of the Mediterranean Fortress City of Akko (Acre). The Fort built by the Crusaders was so solid that even Napoleon was unable to breach its walls.

The most striking building in Akko is the Caravanserai, or Inn, which served the Caravans that came through carrying goods from town to town, or distributed from this seaport into the rest of the country. The second floor was lodging for the guests, and the first floor was where all the beasts of burden were housed for the night. Since there were always more animals than people on these Caravans, there would naturally be more room for the animals than for the human guests. It is speculated that this was the situation in Bethlehem, where Joseph and Mary were forced to go to register for their taxes. They were both descended from King David, and Bethlehem was the city of their family origin.
The Innkeeper, usually reviled as having turned them away, could have actually been a merciful man, allowing them space on the first level rather than shutting the door in their faces as usually depicted!

The Innkeeper in the Story of the Good Samaritan is also a decent sort. He didn't have to care for the beaten man, even for money, but it looks as though he did, as well as having extended credit to the Samaritan, if the treatment ended up costing more than expected!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"The Parable Of The Good Samaritan"
Jan Wijnants

ND behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far;
The LORD hath called me from the womb;
From the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
