This article was posted twice, and I didn’t see a single comment on either thread that offered specific, constructive ideas for what manly men should be doing in the Church.

You are right. I don’t know how it is that I got them confused. I haven’t posted in a very long time and the last time I did, I also made a mistake that needed correction.

So what should we be suggesting?

First of all, love their mother

Play with them

Pray with them

Teach them manners — holding a door for a girl, letting Mom go first, etc.

Explain the manliness of Jesus Christ to them.

Guide them through the Mass — explaining the two main parts.

I've been thinking along the lines of this article for some weeks nows. We always hear about the Shepherd and His lambs, but how come nobody ever talks about the sheepdogs. The sheepdogs love their Shepherd, and love and protect the flock. Men should fall into the category of sheepdog, yet we never hear of this analogy.

The sheepdog finds the strays and brings them back to the fold. The sheepdog will spend the night out in the cold and rain if that is what it takes to watch over the flock. The sheepdog will bear his teeth and confront the wolf that threatens the flock.

Yup, I like sheepdogs.
