In contrast, I believe this winsome maiden was of remarkable character, in her willingness to obey The Most Holy God, whether under The Law in the age of Law, or under Grace in the age of Grace.
But she, like John the Baptizer, seems willing to take her place in the panorama (not a Pantheon) of a supporting cast that the Holy Ghost uses to draw one's attention to The Jesus, in Whom we trust to raise us to Heaven, with Him Alone as our High Priest, Rebbe, Lord, Messiah, Savior, Intercessor--and mostly important--our compassionate Friend.
That is the greatest sign of the true regenerate believer-disciple, that Abraham and Paul and Baptizer John and you and I become lesser, and He greater, eh?
I believe that would have been Mary's approach as well, and worthy of recognition as one of her spiritual attributes.
"Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine Own way;
Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.
Mold me and make me, after Thy Will
While I am waiting, yielded and still."
That is the proper metaphor for this winsome woman, bowing in homage to the Mighty God in Christ, the Hope of Glory.
Let Mary's name and repute be so remembered.
The best wine is the new wine, a metaphor for the blessing of the inward presence The Holy Spirit (Acts 2:13, found in the cluster (Is. 65:8), and partaken of as at Cana and (presumably) at the Marriage Feat of The Anointed One and His Bride.
“The Venerable Bishop Sheen, said that Jesus called her woman because He wanted her to recognize that once He performed His first miracle, she would become the mother of all not just to Him. “
Appeal to Authority - logical fallacy.
Mary is not the mother of all anywhere in Scripture. Made up out of whole cloth. Probably moth-eaten cloth.
Let Mary's name and repute be so remembered.
Roger that. Mary was definitely blessed among women, but a servant of God, just like we are. On another issue, this is the first time I have EVER heard of Mary being referred to as the new Eve. Have you ever heard this before? I feel like one of those Athenians in Acts 17, just spending my time hearing some new thing. 😄
She's not. What I think they wanted her is to be a chief goddess replacement for Diana (remember "Great is the Diana of Ephesus!" of Acts 10:24-35), or Athena, or Astsrte so the Gentiles have an excuse for their old social activities, now putting their emphasis on drawing gentiles away by giving them a substitute, if you know what I mean. That's the basis for a lot of this formation of a pantheon of heroes and calling them "Saints" each with a feast for every one.
This is how all the barbaric activities got folded into the Roman manifestation, and still seems to drive it.
Is that the queen of heaven and her son Tammuz, from where the sign of the T comes from, whose symbol is the evergreen tree? (Christmas tree)
Stick your opinion!
Well you're not very well read then.
Mary can't hear you...
In Jesus Name, we pray, Amen!
In Jesus' name you pray to Mary...So you are going thru Jesus to get to Mary...How blasphemous...
Mary had to nudge God to get off his hind end and do something...
Bite Me! Mary my Mother protect me from the unbelievers!
What? Your Jesus is not sufficiently strong, or does not care enough?
When it’s someone other than Mary, we read the obvious... the Lord orchestrated things in order to get the request in order that He could meet it on the record.
But when it’s Mary, Jesus has to be prodded...
Oh come on.
Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! A little touchy, are we???
Those who do not believe in your Mary as the New Eve or the Queen of Heaven are those who believe in Jesus Christ alone...Your Mary has no power over us...
The bible obviously is meaningless to these people and their religion...
If you only knew.
It’s kind of funny I found myself in this discussion.
Way back, before I believed in Christ, I was raised Jewish. I asked the rabbi once, why do we call God “He” and not “She”? Hebrew is a gendered language and the third party pronouns are gendered, corresponding to our English He and She.
The rabbi was not Christian, but he told me something I still remember. He told me that many of God’s attributes are stated in the feminine gender in the scriptures.
Jesus, being God, doesn’t need a woman poking at Him to remember the special kind of compassion with which He was to imbue womankind! The human Adam might need that kind of help. God, the divine Adam, doesn’t.
No wonder David spoke of Jonathan’s love as “more wonderful than that of women.” No, David and Jonathan were not “gay.” This love was a special one from God, and represented the love what required both genders for God to express in humankind, the love that was later to be expressed as agape in the New Testament.
I can imagine what you believe, and do not believe it.
She does care about Satan’s spawn!
How about looking in a mirror if you want to be sure you do not have a Satan’s spawn problem?
