Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

We will have more about Jacob in the Bible to come, but for now let us look at Joseph, the first-born of Rachel, who was Jacob's one true love.

By this time Rachel had died while giving birth to Joseph's younger brother Benjamin, and Joseph was the obvious favorite of all the 12 brothers. perhaps it was because he was the first born of Rachel after years of infertility, or perhaps there were other reasons, but giving Joseph the "Ornate Robe " was a profound breach of cultural protocol. The robe was the symbol of authority in the family, and the ten older brothers could easily have interpreted this as an insult.

On top of that, we have Joseph merrily expounding upon some dreams he had which, even on the surface, could be very easily interpreted to mean that his whole family would be bowing down to HIM! Jacob had to admonish Joseph about his telling of his dreams, and maybe had recollections of his own twenty year exile from his estranged brother Esau which had resulted from family jealousy.

Added to this was Joseph's carrying bad reports about his brothers back to their father. That must have REALLY made him popular! Even if he was delegated to do so, they would have still seen him as a "snitch". Joseph had a lot of growing up to do, and he will, as we shall see.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Correction: This is Genesis 37, not 33.

Amen, Left that other site.

Joseph was quite naïve about human nature as a teenager.

Joining in lifting up Israel and our beloved America as well as all God’s people in prayer.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

" . . . Behold, the sun and the moon and the
eleven stars made obeisance to me."

Stained Glass, Chartres

_ ND Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
