7 Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. 2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt, 4 he will not listen to you. Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This morning, before setting up the Jerusalem Thread, I happened to read this morning's News items. The preponderance of antisemitism in the News today was inescapable! The White House, The EU, the Ukrainian Rebels, the Muslims, the Right Wing, the Left Wing, African Rebels, Our Allies, and Our Enemies ALL seemed to have something to say about "The Jews".

It is very puzzling that a people-group that has been in existence for 5000 years, born from exile, slavery, and nomadic wanderings could be SO important to these people that they occupy a large room in their brain, rent-free!

As creation groans against the Creator, in constant rebellion, there is One People that are a constant reminder of the Creator's Existence, Sovereignty, and Provision. In a World without the Creator, "The Jews" should not exist at all, but would rather be a footnote in History, like the Hittites or the Jebusites.

Yet, here they are. To admit that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the REAL , One and Only God, is to usurp oneself from the throne of self-worship. The survival of the Jewish People is a constant reminder that God exists, and He's NOT us.

In this brief passage, God tells Moses that he "will be like a god to Pharaoh". Remember, the Ancient Egyptians believed that Pharaoh WAS a living god, so this was a supreme insult! It would take some extreme miracles to free the slaves, and God (The REAL ONE), was ready to provide them!

This year I am reading through the Bible in Chronological order...a verse from today: Exodus 15:13 Thou in Thy love hast led the people that Thou hast redeemed; Thou hast guided them in Thy strength to Thy holy habitation. . . 17 Thou bringest them in, and plantest them in the mountain of Thine inheritance, the place, O LORD, which Thou hast made for Thee to dwell in, the sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy hands have established. 18 The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, Praying for hearts of solidarity and love to flourish for God’s ancient people, Praying for the Salvation of all Israel, Praying LORD for mercy on our families and friends, Praying for forgiveness in our churches and nation.
