78 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.” 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

In these days of computers, lasers, holograms, lights and illusion, it is easy to simulate a miracle. But, as any magician will tell you, there is always a "trick". Most illusions can not be performed without the set-up, the distraction, and the misdirection that leads to the "Prestige" or surprise at the end. It is an ancient, respected, and closely guarded form of entertainment that has amused and excited people for centuries.

However, when "Magick" is performed to sway people's beliefs in the Almighty, or to corrupt the minds of children, or to compete with true faith, it becomes evil. Pharaoh's sorcerers had a form of this type of magic, but it was powerless in the face of the truly miraculous.

Our popular culture has so many embedded occult symbolism and corrupt images that it is getting impossible to believe that there is no ulterior motive. Sometimes there is real talent involved, and fantastic skill, as well as production values that go into the stratosphere, but eventually, the Power of the Almighty will swallow it all up, just as the snake of Moses swallowed up the snakes of the sorcerers.
