Eighty percent of Catholics under the age of fifty no longer believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.Perhaps they should become Lutherans; we still believe in the Real Presence...
(just kidding, though if one were a Catholic and had to choose between people being a Catholic and not believing in the Presence and people being a Lutheran and believing in the Presence, it would not be a easy choice, I think)

We are witnessing the fulfillment of the terrible vision of Leo XIII (of happy memory) which prompted him to require the “Leonine” prayers in order to stave it off; this succeeded for nearly a century.
Paul VI promptly suppressed them and look where we are now after only a generation.
You are quite right this is a day for mourning and penance not celebration.

Really.
The presence of Christ is not dependent upon which flavor of Christianity one professes. It is not dependent upon which words one hears at any church service, but in the Word of God, as set down in Holy Scripture-both New and Old Testament. The presence of Christ is within the mind, heart and soul of one who has succumbed to His Word and accepted Christ as his savior and Lord of all creation.

>Communist Anti-Pope Francis: Jesus famous remark, Do not make My Fathers house a marketplace!
That’s not what Jesus said. He called it “a den of thieves”. They were gouging the faithful who needed to buy sacrifices.
I don’t see a problem with vernacular, as long as it is theologically sound and well done, which I take it is neither. Not being Catholic I wouldn’t know for sure.
But removing the bit about “the perfidious Jew” has to count for something positive.

But....the Catholic Church is the ONLY one who has that Doctrine that the Holy Eucharist is the PRESCENCE of Jesus Christ.....so, as I said....COME ON OVER!!!

I’m sorry if I offend and I have misread your meaning and you are already familiar with Catholic theology. Catholics believe that the communion wafer once consecrated by a priest is literally the body and blood of Christ. To Catholics it is not symbolic, but a real and actual occurrence that Jesus is present not just in words but in body in the Eucharist which we eat. For me, that is the entire reason to remain with the church regardless how many other iterations of Christianity pop up.

I appreciate the gesture. however, I have the somewhat unique legacy of being tossed from a Catholic church, many years ago, for disagreeing over certain aspects of worship and dogma. Issues the good priest and I agreed to disagree about. While I do, indeed, respect and admire many Catholics I know and have known over the years, and their sincere faith and fealty to the Lord, it is best for all that remain a born again, nondenominational, Bible believing adherent and follower of the Jewish carpenter from Galilee.
My best wishes and hopes for you and yours, in His name and His will.

I understand and comprehend the concept of the Eucharist being the body of Christ. However, my readings and discussions in many years of reading Scripture and visiting many different congregations, in an attempt to find that one which I am most comfortable with and which is, in my understanding of His word, most compatible precludes me from faithfully attending Catholic church. To do so would seem, to me, to be less than honest in His House and good fellowship with His flock in that setting.
We are all, in the long run, brothers and sisters and children of God.

Actually both versions are Scriptural. In Matthew, Mark, and Luke Jesus refers to the "den of thieves." In John 2.16 the word is
emporion meaning a marketplace or trading place.
It was part of the Gospel reading for today and I was following along in the Greek New Testament while the English text was being read aloud and was a bit surprised that it did not say "den of thieves." I just checked the other three Gospels and they have the same phrase meaning "den of thieves" (or "cave of robbers" if you will).
